Don Not Go To Silk and Satin Huntington

Do not shop at Silk and Satin (S & S) Wedding Emporium in huntington. They have just about ruined my wedding. My mother and I bought our gown here back in November and put down 50% deposit. The wedding is 2 1/2 weeks away and neither gown has arrived. The sales people keep lying and the owner is nowhere to be found. One dress is from Jovani in New York (this should have taken only a few weeks). The wedding gown is from Rena Koh and is nowhere in site. They do not provide any status they just keep changing the date when it will arrive. My problem is they have my deposit and I can't afford to go out and buy another dress without this deposit money. What do I do? I cannot take this stress. This woman is going under and is taking all of the brides with her.

Hurting!!! Mary

Good Luck

Don Not Go To Silk and Satin Huntington

Wow - I'm really sorry. For what ever its worth, my good friend had the same experience at Kleinfelds! She ordered a Diamond Collection dress - spent well over $5K. the dress arrived a week and a half before her wedding! I'M NOT KIDDING!!! They altered it and she was ready for her big day - and they also gave her a run around as well.

They may come through - but I can only imagine the anxiety you're having. I'm not sure what to tell you....but I do wish you luck. My thoughts are with you! : )

Thanks for your good wishes! : )

I have no clue about laws and such. Can she be threatened with a lawsuit??? Sometimes that gets people amovin'

Phyl, we're using Michele Flower Florist in Huntington (516) 549-8680. They are a house vendor for our reception hall, JOHN ANTHONY'S ON THE WATER. Bob, the owner, was extremely open with working with us. He's great!

I agree with Gina. Threaten to sue them. I know it wouldn't be the same, but you can walk into the bridal shops and purchase gowns off the rack for almost 50% off. Sometimes as low as 300 - 800 bucks. This is a tough one because you don't want to lose that money either. I would do this. Go down to your bridal shop, tell them you aren't taking the dress because it isn't in. Tell them you would like a full refund or you are going to see an attorney and call the Better business bureau. They may jump like Gina says. Do these shops have any idea what they put us through?

I couldn't agree more. Even though I am new to this board, in the last month or so, I have found it be a key resource in my planning. I have read and taken into account everyone's comments, whether they were positive or negative.

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we should all try to keep them at a respectable level. Thanks :)

Don Not Go To Silk and Satin Huntington

Wow. You guys are making me nervous. Between Kate and Mary, I'm almost EXPECTING my dress and the girls' dresses to be late.

I went to that place in Huntington and contemplated a Rena Koh dress from them. It turned out to be too expensive so I went elsewhere. I think she's from out of the country and I didn't have enough time to order. But my mom tried to order a Jovani dress somewhere else and she was told THE NEXT DAY they couldn't get it in time. She was disappointed because it took her a while to find the dress she wanted and was told she couldn't get it. But better to find out 4 months before the wedding than a few weeks.

I hope things work out for you and your mom. More stress is something we all don't need right now.
