Has anyone ever stop to think that 'Hey, this is MTV, some things HAVE to be editing?' Because 99% of it is.
Yes, I was one of the couples on that show. And yes, we all may be youg, but speaking for myself, I can honestly say my husband and I are more then financially stable. Yes, we're young and immature, but we're not so immature to not realize that marriage is the biggest commitment you can ever make in you life.
People, just please be aware, tha no one is perfect. I'm sure you all are flawed in some ways. Us people who have been on the show reads these things. We're normal people just like you. And yes they did find people who are stable. MTV just didn't feel like sharing that with the rest of America.
Interesting. I am wondering why, though, you are surprised that people are talking about it...it was on TV. I mean no offense but what did you think would happen, you'd go on TV & no one would have an opinion of what they saw? Sorry but that is the price for putting yourself in the piblic eye, no matter how much MTV editors might have contorted things through editing. JMO

Us people who have been on the show reads these things.
'US' is an object pronoun that belongs in the predicate of a sentence. The proper word is 'WE.'
'WE' would be the proper choice of words in your sentence that would invariably change your verb to 'READ.'
Why do I mention this? Because it is a skill taught in elementary school. I am teaching it to my special ed students at this moment in time. As an educator, I would be concerned that the perpetuation of immaturity could have an effect on the youth of tomorrow in terms of academic standards supported at home. They don't teach this in college or in the outside world.
However, I wish you the best of luck and hope that your love for your DH can sustain you.

why subject yourself to public scrutiny in the first place? what would posess you to expose your life to everyone like that? did you think people would have only nice things to say?
if so, then you probably ARE as immature as people think.

TRUE. but if you choose to air your business on a show like that, you're asking for what is said about you. come on, these 'reality' shows have been around for years now. we ALL know that people are going to judge, comment or whatever. if you thought that a show like that would depict what is 100% true, then you aren't very smart or mature at all.

I completely agree! There is no need to come on a public forum and 'defend' yourself or your actions. Its great that you got married and I really hope that works out...but if you chose to put yourself and your wedding on MTV to be shown to a national audience; of course they are going to talk about you...it might not be what you want to hear, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

When you make a conscious choice to put yourself on tv and have cameras chronicle your life in some way, you are opening yourself up for criticism and scrutiny. Don't think that you will escape that, because that is the price of publicity. If you do not want that kind of attention, then think before you act and just don't do it.Yes, editing does amazing things and will skew things in order to make good tv. However, there is some truth to it if they are portraying it in the way that they are.

Well said
And I must add...in what possible way could you ever benefit from putting yourself on one of these shows? It has the potential to destroy your image.

I think that's it though--a lot of the people who go on the show do not think about those consequences and find that it's cool because they'll be on tv and have their special day chronicled. They cannot cry out after the fact that they've been exploited or mis-represented because knowing what they do beforehand and seeing the shows on tv, they should expect that kind of treatment not just from production and editing but from the public too.
They are adults though and made that choice to make their lives public and open to scrutiny, so they should be adult enough to deal with the criticism that may come.
