Has ANYONE had any experiences with Jack & Rose in Woodbury - Or Burtons in Melville. Gotta make a decision..and you gals helped me in the past..

I am very sorry to see you all go. I will continue to check this board although not as often as before. My wedding is in 2 months and I am sad that this board has turned into such a mess just when I need everyone's advice the most. As I have posted before, I have truly enjoyed many of the ladies (and gents)advice and ideas. It is sad that most of the posts on this board are now hostile.

Thank you for all you help! I am glad your weddings were successful and I'm sure we will all have fun and memorable affairs.

I dont want to knock any vendors but my best friend used Burtons last June for her wedding. I will just say one thing. When they delivered the bridesmaids bouquets to her house she broke out in tears. They were all wrong. They were suppose to be a rainbow effect (light to dark pink roses) well the dark roses were in the middle and they looked like bullseyes. The florist started to pull out the flowers on her dining room table to rearrange them. What a disaster. My friend said she wouldnt reccomend them to anyone. Hope this helps (We had trauma with our dressess too)

Just a tip...

I'm sorry to also say that I have not heard anything good about either of them. I heard that Jack and Rose is not very "bride-friendly" and that they received a lot of complaints. Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I think that you should keep looking.

Hi I attended a wedding there last winter. It was great. The food was really good and I loved the raised dance floor. The room is beautiful and can accomodate alot of people. The only thing I didnt like was the fact that it was on a main road but other than that I really liked it.

Just a tip...

I have used Jack and Rose on many occasions and have never had a problem. I haven't heard any complaints about them. I would say go with your your impression of them.

They have two rooms. Our room has a room max of 240, and we had to guarentee 150 min. I think the other room upstairs is a bit bigger.

Debby,

I am using Spitz & Peck and highly recommend them, although, as one bride to be has noted before, their prices can run a little bit higher. Personally, I thought it was worth the extra money, though, because they seem to have a wider variety of flowers and are much more creative with their designs. Just my opinion - that's why I selected them.

Does anyone know of a good DJ?

oh my, i went to 4 florists each one of them rushed me in an out in 30-45 minutes. there was another one who said don't come in til you get the girls dresses. the only one that was "bridal friendly" was Jack and Rose. how can I think otherwise. i spent 2 and a half hours there without my bridal party dresses decided yet. They brought out over twenty flowers and conveyed many ideas that other florists weren't interested in sharing. Also they are very personable and willing to please. for me i thought they were the closest to giving me the wedding that i wanted, instead of other florists selling me their standard "off the shelf" pkg. i hope this helps you.

spitz and peck ruined my bat mitzvah a few years back. my mother and father ordered a theme for my bat mitzvah and put flowers on the adult tables. when the flowers arrived they were late with less than 30 minutes to my reception starting. when my mother and father saw that the flowers were in the wrong colors they called the owners. they said they couldn't do anything because they were so far away on the south shore. my father said aren't you in huntington. they said only for consultation not for the flowers. they are made in cedarhurst so it would take an hour or more to come back to fix the mistakes. so even though my parents used spitz and peck 30 years ago, they will never use them again. they said that they are not the same florist as they were years ago. i have to agree. pls no hostile responses. just our family experience, for those interested.

SPITZ AND PECK

They actually did a friend of mine's wedding and ended up running to HOME DEPOT with less than 15 minutes to begin the ceremony b/c they didn't have wrong supplies to build the huppah. They were also supposed to coordinate the house flowers with her colors...never done. Her pastel victorian wedding theme was totally thrown off by huge sunflowers and daisies. Now, no onw is saying that those flowers aren't beautiful, they are, but, they weren't what she wanted nor expected. Just BEWARE!!! Spitz and Peck have gotten too big for the britches.

Brenda, who are you using as your photographer? We booked Doug at the Lindenhurst location.

I am so sorry, but don't worry, it seems like you still have time to fix it and everything will be fine.

rachel and abby i couldn't agree with you more. the bigger they are the harder they fall. well not at my wedding. spitz and pecks also ruined my friends wedding. they think they are g-d, meanwhile they are no better than any middle of the road florist!!!! yes fact. i have experienced this also as the other two girls have!! my friend was in tears when the flowers were actually thrown together and fell to pieces as we walked down the aisle with pink colors while my friend hated pink!!!! she wanted purples, peaches, cremes and got pinks, lavenders, and whites....are they also color blind!!!! or is it that they are in every hall and so just do not care any more!!!!! i'm sick of the strong arm of these teflon type vendors that think they are g-ds gift to weddings and catering halls!!!!! girls check out any other florist but spitz and peck. donot think that money has anything to do with it!.. you can always throw out a couple of hundred dollars additional to make yourself feel better...but thats not the real world. just shop it right and ignore the caterers that push these big guys!!!! because the bigger they are the harder they fall!!!!

I know how horrible you must feel, I too have had problems with the Commack Wedding Center in the past (with bridesmaid dresses). If you had felt so strongly at the time that the dress was too short, you should have refused to pay for it. I would have stood there and screamed until I got my way. They have one seamstress who is absolutely terrible. If you leave with the dress and sign the receipt, then legally the wedding center is not responsible. However by making what happened known to the Better Business Bureau, the news or everyone you can think of, if he has any conscience, he will do the right thing. Take the advice that everyone had left and go to another seamstress. Don't let something so minor as a hem ruin your special day. It is not worth it.

SCARSELLA'S

If any of you were considering Spitz and Peck you should definitely check out Scarsella's. Tee is the owner and is really a genius when it comes to setting the mood and tone. Scarsella's is in the price range of Flowers by Brian and Spitz and Peck, but she will personally come and set everything up herslf. She is creative and will definitely show you pics from the most outrageous events she has done to the most classic. Tee will also work within your budget. Just let her know what it is and she will do as much as she can to make your room look how you want it to witin your price range. Keep in mind you are getting PERSONAL service, so the prices are higher, but so worth the lack of stress and anxiety.

Thanks in advance,

Nicky

SCARSELLA'S

I agree! I've been in catering for years and I have to say that Scarsellas is on the money for service, quality and Tee is a doll.
