Re: Flowers-what to do with a small budget???

I'm getting married in August too, and my centerpieces are shallow bowls with floating candles in it.

The hall is air conditioned, it'll be okay.

I have EIGHT Bridesmaids and EIGHT Groomsmen, so I have a lot of flowers to buy for them.

I am spending less than $1000 on my flowers. I am estimating that my centerpieces should be around $10 a piece (around 17 tables or so).

ALSO - one of my BMs got married last June and she had candle centerpieces that she made herself. She made castles by gluing small flat-ish stones to aluminum cans and wrapping a bit of fake ivy around them. Then there was a Pillar candle in each one. It couldn't have been more than $6 or 7 a table, and they looked great. I still have one in my apartment! Her wedding was just beautiful.

Good luck with the rest of the planning - we're all here to help!

Re: Flowers-what to do with a small budget???

maybe a huricane lamp with a pillar inside... possible throw some rose petals around it, or in the base of the hurricane..

or go to a place like cosco 2 dozen roses for 13$... put a dozen roses in a small vase at each table...they have many colors there..

i was going to do my own but then got lazy, and got a decent price for what i wanted, but i definaely love the hurricane idea

That's what I was going to suggest. My palce throws in 6 roses in a bubble vase, so I fugure they can't be too expensive if they throw them in. I'm going to upgrade, i think, But I can't that's fine.
6 rose will look more full in a smaller vase though. You should price a aflorist & then see the oct of doing it yourself. I also like bowls with floating candles--definitely DIY & not too hot for August. Its not a freaking fire place!

And I totally understand where you are comign from with about goignin a differnt dircetion than you expected. I thoguht we'd have a small dinner in a private room of a rstaurant, I'd where a staright dress, flowers in my hair. Now I am having a full reception, a princess cut dress & probably a cathedral lenghth veil, but I am happy with my decisions.

Re: Flowers-what to do with a small budget???

Be VERY creative and keep your eye out for ites you can use.

I got these as X-mas clearance for $5 each(it's metal, not plastic about 10' in diameter, 6' high)

Then gong to have florist fill like these style centerpieces....NOT necessarily the flowers shown.

And then, filling in the length of the table, rose petals and 1 or 2 votives on each side of centerpiece, which I got for $0.10 each

Do a search of candles/non-flower c-peices and you can find tons of ideas. Do you have a theme and can maybe make something that includes that?
