Re: for already married brides who lost a lot of weight after ordering the dress...

I am down almost two sizes since ordering....and I was also concerned when I started losing weight after ordering. They assured me you owuld have to ruin massive amounts of weight for it to be a problem.

You should order your normal size...it is much easier for them to take in a dress, rather than let it out.

They can bring a dress in up to 4 sizes....it's letting the dress out that's a problem!

Get in there and order that dress boo!

Re: for already married brides who lost a lot of weight after ordering the dress...

I ordered my dress and told them right off the bat that I plan to lose weight. The bridal consultant told me that she will order the dress in the size that I was currently and they will alter it when I loose the weight. They said it isn't a problem to take it in...

Re: for already married brides who lost a lot of weight after ordering the dress...

That's the same with me... I ordered it in the size I am now, and have since done the elliptical EVERY MORNING for the past two weeks (since I ordered it) - and am dedicated to losing a LOT in 9 months. Someone here said they were told that 20lbs = 1 dress size. Can that be right? I would think 10 lbs would equal 1 dress size? I can't WAIT for them to have to take my dress IN when it comes in!

Re: for already married brides who lost a lot of weight after ordering the dress...

I was 1/2' off the next size down in both my chest measurement and my waist measurement when I ordered my dress. The bridal consultant ordered the smaller size and told me if I lost 10 pounds I'd be fine.

I'd love to lose more than that though!

I don't think that's right either. I think it's based on shedding inches, not necessarily pounds that your dress size differs.

ie: if you're losing inches, gaining muscles, you might not change dress sizes, but your clothing will fit you better.

Re: for already married brides who lost a lot of weight after ordering the dress...

I lost about 30lbs from the time I ordered my gown to when I actually wore it. What I did was that since I knew I was going to lose the weight, I ordered one size smaller than they wanted me to get. The smaller size did actually fit me, it was just way too snug at the time. When my gown came in, there was really no problem at all altering it down a few sizes. If I had gotten the size they wanted me to get though, I can tell it would not have looked right.

I am sure the women at the shops hear every woman say she is on a diet though....

Re: for already married brides who lost a lot of weight after ordering the dress...

Looking at the measurements, if I had ordered it in a size smaller I'd have to lose 2 inches in my waist. I couldn't guarantee it even though I've already lost 20 pounds since June and hope to lose at least 20 more by Sept.

Besides the fact that it's got a corset back, I didn't want to risk it being too small.

Re: for already married brides who lost a lot of weight after ordering the dress...

My sister lost 74 pounds between the time she ordered the dress and the time it came in. It had such extensive beading on the bodice shoe wound up with the floor sample dress because they couldn't alter it. Ordered dress size 24, floor sample dress size 12.
