i would get it - FH and i love watching old home videos (well mostly its me) and besides watching myself when i was little i love seeing my parents and aunts and uncle and everyone so young - like when they were our age - so i think it would be really nice to have something to show the kids in our family one day - what we were all like when we were young and liked to party plus i think a video captures expressions that may have been missed in photos - and moments that you didn't get too see....i think i rather waste the money and never watch then save money now and regret not having it down the line...you can always just have someone there to tape raw footage - just for memories sake

ETS: I can't wait to see mine.. there's so much I missed.. Love to see our first dance from another point of view and heard about some things that happened with some guests that I'm hoping is on video since I missed it

I am so HAPPY, we had a videographer. So glad we did it, we have been married for almost 8 months and we have watched it several times.

Dh told me that we are going to watch it at least once a year and thats on our anniversary

if i could AFFORD it, i'd definitely get the video, but alas that is just not in my budget and i honestly don't think it's that big a deal. I was the MOH at my friends wedding and she spent soooo much on her DVD. They watched it a lot that first week they got it back, but never again after that. She burned me a copy and honestly, weddings are soooo boring if it's not your own. lol. So I know I'll never watch it a second time

But on the other hand, I do think it would be REALLY nice to have the whole thing on video for your kids to see someday. That's why I definitely would go for it if I didn't have financial struggles. Instead I'm having a friend video the ceremony and as much of the reception as she feels like. My sister is a pro at editing movies and such, so those 2 will put together something nice for me. It won't be 'professional', but it'll be enough. i think the pictures are more important anyway. People LOVE coming over and looking at pictures, they don't however care to sit through the whole thing all over again!

I do not regret it, no. I had a few people video the key parts for me and I saw one person's already - and loved it. I haven't seen the longer one yet and can't wait. I would advise you to ask someone (maybe a friend who's good with cameras, etc?) to video the important parts, but I don't think you need a professional if you are on a budget.

I still haven't gotten my video because I still have to supply my video guy our songs I am so bad! I think a video is a must have. My videocharged me $1,200 or 1k if I can recall. I can see myself watching it over in and over at first, and watching it every ann...and having our kids watch it. The day goes by so fast that IMO pictures are not enough to capture all the happened.

we got our video back 2 weeks ago I must have watched it 10 times and am going to watch it again tonight. Our familys have watched them and our friends. Everyone wants to see it and it really is enjoyable.

We will have it forever and I will most def be watching it 10 years from now. I watch my nieces watch my sisters wedding video from 11 years ago.

To be honest..I had a videographer and I think its the best decision I ever made..I would have really regreted it now if I didn't have one. The day goes so fast and sometimes its really hard to take everything in. You do miss stuff and things do go unnoticed..trust me! I now have a video to be able to look back on that day and see things I might have otherwised missed (i.e. my bridal party entering the reception, seeing his face as I walked down the isle, seeing my face during our vows, etc) I think the video gives me a chance to relive the day. I also wanted it so that I could get moments of the day on tape that we could not get in pictures. It is also something great to show your kids someday and to keep memories of your loved ones, especially when they pass (as morbid as it sounds..My parents will not be here forever)

I think its better to have one and watch it once then to not have one at all. I am sure you can find a videographer who will work with you and price. Why don't you ask for a quote on the Vendors Helping Brides board and see what options you have.

FH and i had contemplated not getting video, but we knew that if we didn't we would regret it. Any brides I've spoken to either on LIW or in person doesn't regret getting a video. Af ew that I know that didn't get video really regret it.

We didn't pay a videographer but I did have my sister's bf tape the important parts which is all that really mattered to us. IMO it wasn't worth the money!

we did not...for a number of reasons....not really the money,,,,we just didn't want to have a video crew there. Sometimes I regret it a little bit...but not a lot.

ITA! if i had a video i would NEVER bore my friends by making them watch it... if they WANTED to, great knock yourself out. but i would never make them sit through the whole wedding all over again

ITA!!!!!!! The way I thought of it was: how awesome would it be to see my PARENTS' video!!!!! I know my nieces and nephews watch their parents videos and it is just so great to see people and how they talk and what their gestures are? Never fully captured in a photo.

ok, so i was dead set against having a videographer at the wedding and DH agreed with me....

then my mother talked to another mother at her job about her daughters wedding. she said that her mother, the brides grandmother passed away a month after the wedding and they had just got the video and watched it, and loved to be able to see her enjoying herself with all the family....

so enter my mothers constant pushing to have a videographer to have more than just picts to remember that day and everyone there....

so i started looking into videographers
OMG they were sooooo expensive, so i called my photographer to talk to her about it and she recommended a friend of hers that does video as a side business, he did our wedding dirt cheap, we got from before the ceremony to picts at the church, some footage after taking picts, the ballroom, ch, intros, dances, toasts, and some misc footage. no fancy montage of footage, but a good quality video we will have forever
and i already watched twice

try to find a way to make it happen either a friend or family member who knows someone or will record things for you if you cant find anyone reasonable

lol! you sound just like i did!

i didn't want to have a videographer bc i didn't think we could swing the $ and on top of that, i never watch home videos so i didn't think it would have any use for us.

last minute, i got videography bc everyone told me, that if i did not i would regret it. they were right, the raw footage alone, cracks me up, i missed so many funny things the guests were doing and the video made the wedding experience more whole when i did see the calamities!

I did not get a video either - not for money reasons - and do not regret it at all. Mainly b/c sometimes they just turn out cheesy and end up putting people on the spot to say something. However, we had 2 family friends offer to record the actual ceremony and they got a bit of the reception hall as well - just scanning to give a sense of what it looked like. I

I think it's nice to have the ceremony on video - but even if I did not have that I would not regret not having a video.

If you're the type of person who watches home movies- then yes perhaps you will regret. If you're not (which I am not) then I do not think you will regret it either.

I just got my uncut video and it was nice. Actually, it was very funny. I was so glad I got it because honestly, there were things I saw that I have no recollection of. I got to see everyone come in and my bridal party walk down and everyone dancing and having a good time. I was so glad I got it. Its 3 hours long and my mother and I have watched it 3x.
