It sounds a bit late... my CH starts at 6:30 and the reception is 7:00 - 11:00

it does sound late to me....my friday night wedding starts at 7 and ch time is at 4. the hall gives us an option when we can start since there's only one wedding. just make sure that some of your guests have somewhere in between the ceremony and the reception.

personally it's a good time frame b/c you need time for pictures if your doing pictures - some people don't. and plus gives enough time for people to get there that might not be going to the church.
it's a little late but considering your ceremony is at 6 it's actually not bad.

We're Fri night wedding - Ceremony starts at 3pm and CH starts at 5:30pm - wedding ends around 11:30 (we added xtra hr)

our ceremony starts at 2:45, and my ch starts at 7:30..
our ceremony is in brooklyn, and our reception in long island, so it will give us enough time to take pictures and if we hit traffic, we don't have to rush...
