Re: 'Friend' vent - repost from LIF
wow. I think that was very rude esp. bringing it up 7 months later. The fact that you gave a gift at all should be appreciated and esp. because you were planning a wedding at the time. Some people have no class or tact. I had to cut off my best friend for similar crazy behavior. It hurts but sometimes you just don't need extra crazy in your life.

that was f'd up of her. it's not like you're directly related to them that you feel the need to give anything more than that. not only that, it's a 'gift'. there's no set amount on a present. she should be thankful her daughter got anything considering it was right before your wedding! i'd definitely be po'd too!!!![]()
PS for Jennyal - LIF is the other website lifamilies.com
thanks!

Re: 'Friend' vent - repost from LIF
That is so rude. It is a GIFT! Not an obligation. She should have called you to say thank you for being so generous to her child!

That is crazy! It's sad to see how many people act this way over what they believe is too inexpensive of a gift. People can be so ungrateful! Just because people have jobs, doesn't mean that there is tons of $ to go around for every event! Don't feel bad. It was a generous gift.

I guess it had more to do with what does the MOTHER need with alot of money. Just goes to show that she basically had a 'party' for her daughter to get money out of it. Now that I think back to before the party, I remember the mother saying to me 'I wonder if _____ will give her a gift'... speaking of her BF... meanwhile the BF hadnt even met the daughter at that time! Just goes to show what she was out for... money!

Re: 'Friend' vent - repost from LIF
i think that was an extremely weird and rude conversation. nobody knows what kind of monetary situation someone else is in. She can't just assume that you makes lots of money and have lots to spend on her daughter. If there was a limit on gifts then maybe that should have been on the invitation.

Wow, people never cease to amaze me. She has a lot of nerve and should feel like a real piece of dirt being so obvious about the fact that she was using her daughters communion as a way to make herself some money. The gift was for her daughter, not her as so many have already said. Your gift was perfectly acceptable, however I don't care if you gave the kid 5 bucks in a card, it is NEVER appropriate to say that to someone, let alone someone that you are supposed to be friends with. She KNOWS you have money, just stupid, is she handling your household finances? Ugh, stuff like this really annoys me.
Has she responded to your email?

Re: 'Friend' vent - repost from LIF
Unbelievable.....the woman should be grateful there are good people in her daughters life and not about the dollar amount of a gift. What does the fact that she is not working have to do with anything? Is that your responsibility? Should you have offered to pay her bills instead of giving her daughter a gift? Ok I am sorry, I am getting a little sarcastic and nasty but the nerve of this person really got to me.

Re: 'Friend' vent - repost from LIF
I'm sorry... i know it's not funny, but it's just so odd and immature, that it kind of is funny because she's making an *** out of herself.
Like someone said before... she has some balls.
Seriously, don't stress what she said. Not everyone can give tons of money for someone's communion. How old is the girl? 8? $40 dollars to an 8 year old is a lot of money! She should be happy that you gave something! Some people are just getting out of hand with giving/expecting gifts. Just like tipping now a days. It's getting out of hand.
