Re: FUMING MAD - I Freakin' HATE the post office
holy crap Kara, that's awful. that's so awful. This is probably going to sound like a guy idea, so take it with a metric ton of salt, but if this happened to FW and I, and the postage needed envelopes were addressed to seven friends who very laid back, I would consider getting a nice pen and writing them out ourselves, so we didn't have to deal with to/fro staten island.
Does the calligrapher go into Manhattan at all? you could meet halfway.
In the interest of expediency, you could connect with a stationary store/calligrapher closer to you for these 7. It's not like people are going to compare the writing on their envelopes, is it?
If my own knee wasn't torn up, I'd offer to bust some knees for you. I'm getting pretty adept at this cane thing, so let me know.
so sorry!

Re: FUMING MAD - I Freakin' HATE the post office
UPDATE: My father happens to have a friend who is the head of a different post office in Manhattan. He was nice enough to have someone check to make sure there are no more invitations in the processing area at that post office to be returned. (In other words, it looks like it will just be the ones that were returned Saturday - though I guess it's possible more will come today???)At any rate, he said when I have the new envelopes ready, he will meet me at his post office and manually walk them through the system to make sure they don't get returned. He said if all the others went through (and I have confirmation that many were delivered from those that got them), then these should have gone through, too.
He was really nice about it... My parents' neighbor said she does calligraphy and would re-do the outer envelopes, but I need to meet this guy tomorrow. If she can't do them tonight (and I wouldn't expect she'll have time to do them tonight), I will have to settle for handwriting the outer envelopes so I can get them out tonight. At least it's just these 7...
that no more come back today!

Thanks, Russ.
If any more come back today, maybe I can just borrow your cane for a few mins?
