Groomsmen, Parent Gifts

I know this has been covered, but i'm wondering if anyone has any new ideas for groomsmen gifts....we've seen the flask-thing, the beer stein-thing, the money clip-thing, but nothing is jumping out at my fiancee...any ideas? The groomsmen are all so different....

And how about the parents? I was going to give them individual gifts, but I'm told that's not necessary...opinions or ideas?

Stephanie

Something nice for the groomsmen that you don't always see is watches. It's definetely something they can use and they come in all price ranges.

You certainly aren't obligated to give the parents individual gifts but if you have the money in your budget it is definetely a nice thing to do. It doesn't even have to be an expensive gift...sometimes a framed collage or book of memories can be a great gift to parents.

Good luck! Stephanie

Groomsmen, Parent Gifts

Hi Jenn: My fiance was in a wedding party last year and all the guys received really nice rugged duffel bags. He uses it all the time and loves it because it was so practical. You can get them with their initials on them. For my mother-in-law to be, I sewed a cross stich poem to her. There is a handkerchief, and maybe Stephanie has them, they are white with lace trimand they have embroidered on them "To dry your tears as you have always dried mine". It's so pretty and they are inexpensive. You and your fiance could each give them to your Mom's. As for the Dad's I'm TOTALLY STUMPED on that myself. UGH! I have no idea what to give to my father-in-law. I actual wasn't going to give him anything, but since I made something for her, I figure I sort of have to. Anyone else have ideas for Dads gifts.

Well said. The poor girl probably read some etiquette article somewhere that said to address "and guest" whenever someone is not married. Maybe she didn't want to be presumptuous.

I do carry those handkerchiefs. You will probably be surprised to know that they make them not only for moms but for grandmas as well. They also make men's handkerchiefs for dads and grandpas! They come with "Dad","Mom","Grandma" or "Grandpa" embroidered on them and each comes with a card with a different short poem on it. If you are interested or would like to know the sayings feel free to e-mail me.

Other dad gifts (men are so hard to shop for!) could be things like a special book with a written message from you on the inside cover, tickets to a ball game for the dads or something along those lines.

Hope this helps:-) Stephanie

Stephanie?

Stepanie: I am very interested in the Handkerchiefs for Dad's. Would it be too much to ask what the sayings on a Dad's are?

I think the Marriot in Uniondale is your best bet. It is actually a beautiful hotel. I had friends from out of state stay there last year and the rooms (regular room) was gorgeous. The Garden City Hotel is beautiful but they charge some outrageous price that to me wasnt even worth it. We havent decided where we are going to stay. We are buying a house so we might save the $$ and go back to our house (being that I wont be living there before the wedding). Check out the Marriot. Good Luck!!

i am getting married at the chateau briand in feb 2001. does anyone suggest any hotels in that area for me to go to after the wedding? do you think the Marriott has the best price? or is there a really nice other hotel around there that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

Stephanie?

I like that saying. I'm going to email you directly on this. I think my dad would like that. He actually uses a handkerchief all the time. I'll give you a shout next week.

Can anyone tell me where I can get wine favors and about how much they cost. I thought I remember reading from someone that they were giving Mateus Wine bottles that they bought for $1.50.

Leighann,
