My FH told her about us not having kids at the wedding. She kept saying about how her situation is a 'special situation'. I wouldn't think that a reception from 8-12am with a 8 piece band is good for a 2 month old's ears.

I hope FH or FMIL will approach her about it. I really don't want to be the one, but at this point if it comes to it I won't feel that guilty about it. I feel like I have been pretty accepting of everything so far, but this has been the one issue I really felt strongly about, and do not want to compromise on.

Beth, don't compromise. Is your FI willing to deal with the situation? I just don't want it to be you dealing with it. You shouldn't have too.

Re: Guest may bring a two-month old!!!!!!!

I have been thinking about this situation again. I am very anti-adults only receptions because I feel weddings are family occassion and children are part of a family.

That being said, while I do not think the aby would be a problem (hoenstly, you'dnever notice him or her), I did realize that the music at receptions are extremely loud and that volume is definitely no good for a child that young. Topped with the fact that you really don't want the kid there, I think it would be best that the couple stay home with their child.

I am in the same boat,,,,,,,,with my FH sister. She has a 3 month old, we aren't having kids at the wedding. She said she has to breast feed every half hour so she cannot come without him. So she's not coming. Not to mention the fact that my wedding will be the first time that FH entire family sees the new baby because they are not on Long Island. I offered my apartment which is in the same town as the reception hall for the baby to stay with a sitter that FH mom was going to provide. She won't budge. I didn't want to start anything with other family members that couldn't bring their kids. We are also having a band there that is loud, I don't think it's any place for a young baby. It's your day.......... people need to not give you a hard time about any of your decisions.

That is very sad. This is his sister and you guys won't budge about the baby? His sister won't be at the wedding...

Re: Guest may bring a two-month old!!!!!!!

I was rececently at a wedding where there were no kids except for one baby (a little over 2 months old) they (mom and baby) sat at my table and she breastfed the baby right there at the table. Now the table was in the corner in the back of the room and not that I was looking but I did glance over a few times (couldn't help) and saw nothing revealing. The mom was so natural and very comfortable about it that I was comfortable about it as well as my FH. At first he was a little freaked but he quickly got over it after seeing the ease in which she breastfed. It did not bother me, my FH, and any other person at the table and she was someone none of us knew before that night. So I think people should give moms credit, they know what they are doing they are not goign to whip it out in the middle of the dance floor with the spotlight on them and show everyone. They will find a descreet place to breastfeed, this just happened to be at the table. She obviously felt us all out beforehand and was able to see that none of us would have had a hard time wiht it. Anyway, just my thought on this.
