I saw a girl post on here about how she did this at her shower and I thought it was a great idea. I don't think it is any more 'nervy' then asking people to bring a wishing well gift. They don't need to spend $$$ on the wine, in fact I often find I like the cheaper stuff better.

I agree, its no different than being asked to bring a wishing well gift, or a themed gift (something for their honeymoon, something for date night etc). in this case the gift is something for their wine rack. the bride is requesting it so we know it'll go to good use. i think its a great idea. i love wine!
