HEADPIECES

Ladies i am getting married in July 2000 and recently started looking for a head piece. The few i saw were all over $200 some with veil and some without. Is this the going rate ??? Where are some places that i can shop for a headpiece and veil?

Take the Belt to Southern State. From there get off the exit for "27 East" That is Sunrise Highway. get on the main hwy until you get to the exit for "Lincoln Avenue" (It's just after K-Mart, which will be on your left-K-Mart, that is). Go straight on the service road past the 1st light. The Flea market is right after Sayville Ford and Donaldsons VW. Good Luck! We picked out our rings there on a Sunday Morning right after they opened, and beat the crowds. We got matching white and yellow 14k gold bands (no stones), and paid $225 for both. We used Elegant Jewelry Co. They are right at front of the East Entrance.

Give yourselves alot of time to look, since there are A LOT of jewelers there.

You can try making your own which isn't all that difficult if you have a little time to spare and like to do arts and crafts. I went to AC Moore and have heard that Michael's is also a good place to go. You can buy pieces separately and put them together yourself. I saw this pretty veil that had pearls sporadically on it and thought it was pretty. The headpiece was also pretty but it cost $150. I spent about $50 to make my headpiece and veil. I think it looks great. It's not done yet but I have a while to finish it. Good luck!

You might want to try Patchogue Floral Fantasyland. They have a huge selection and their prices are reasonable.

The Tri-County Flea Market does headpieces for under $100. You should check it out (they also do custom work).

I am looking for a photographer, and I'd rather use one that someone else has used and would recommend.

Just a note, I'll be walking down a 90 foot aisle, and I thought that was long! LOL

I bought my headpiece at Patchogue Floral - $116.00 with comb and veil and all put together. My bridal shop wanted $279. Go figure.

You know what, if they want to accomodate you, they will work with you and help. ASK!

Me too! I got my headpiece (all metal with rhinestones and pearls) with a 3-tier fingertip veil AND a cathedral veil for under $150! I saw the same headpiece at a place for over twice that much...the cathedral veil alone was over $100. They were great and very patient, as i tried on almost every metal headpice in the place!

Does anyone else have a photographer that they used that I can go to that is reasonably priced?

If you were invited to a shower out of town and weren't able to attend, would you send a gift???

Is there a specific booth or vendor at Tri-County to see about the headpieces? I have a diamond white dress and all I want is a simple comb with fingertip length veil and I don't want to pay a lot for it.

The best part about going to Tri-County for the headpiece is being able to go look at rings when I'm done with headpieces...

Check out Mark Kauffman at (631)473-7752. I love my package...EXACTLY what I wanted...and within my budget!!! His style is definitely creative and unique among all his weddings...you'll see in his gallery. Definitely worth a shot...give him a call for his info packet!

If you walk in the front entrance (facing Hempstead Turnpike), there are two booths that sell headpieces. I believe they both also do custom.

If you walk in the rear entrance (where the cosmetic store is), if you walk past the pretzel booth towards the escalator and turn left, there is a silk flower place that sells headpieces as well. I'm sure there are more place, but those were the most obvious that I saw.

Then, when you are done, if you go to the jewelry section upstairs, look for "Turkan Jewelers" along the left wall in the upper corner. They are honest, and don't try to rip you off (and you can really bargain with them).

Yes, you've been very helpful. Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check it out. How coincidental--our family has been buying from Turkan for years!

My mother has been going there for years, and my fiance and I got our rings there (as well as my engagement ring). Since they know my mom so well, they give me great deals!

Does anyone have or know where you can find a list of EVERYONE that should be tipped and what percentage or amount is appropriate? Never being married before, this stuff is all new to me.....

Isn't that a good thing? Why doesn't everyone appreciate me being outspoken and giving advice about what they might not have been aware of?
