Sounds like you're focused mostly on Suffolk County - I know Caffe on the Green - a historical landmark - has a room just your size. But they're located in bayside www.cotg.com (i think)

What about the upstairs room at Harbor Hills in PJ? When my company was smaller, we used to have our holiday party there (w/40-50 pp).

Have you tried the 3 Village Inn in Stony Brook?

Good suggestions. Also the Country House in Stony Brook. Try focusing on restaurants. Most restaurants either have a separate room or you can reserve the entire place. That way you're assured of great food!

Good luck, Mark

The wedding is this March - late afternoon wedding, evening reception. Any and all suggestions are welcomed! : )

Hi Eliza: I agree with Mark. Find a nice restaurant. The Country House is BEAUTIFUL! and extremely CLASSY! You might also want to try Danfords in Port Jefferson. They are extremely helpful. I did a party on the Martha Jefferson this past October for my group at work. We had 120 people and the inside is heated and they set it up like a reception. It's gorgeous on the water sailing around the harbor for 4 hours. That's what we did. The staff is sooooo nice and the Captain and Host were wonderful. You can also bring a DJ. All the food, linens, music, bar and boat were about 39.95 a person. You might get it cheaper for March - off season. Try it. Go down and take a look. They will decorate for you too. E-mail me if you would like a contact name. I have it at work for you. Your guests would love it.

AMEN!!! Don’t take this the wrong way, and I am not trying to offend anyone, but ladies these are our Husbands-to-be, grown men, the one day farther of our children. You should be able to trust them to pick out a tuxedo. Did he help you pick out your dress? I am very excited about the fact that I have no idea what my fiancé is wearing to the wedding, only what he has described to me. He took one of the Bridesmaids dresses, grabbed his best friend and off they went! We will both be surprised when we look down the aisle that day and see each other. Besides by letting them handle it, it is just one more thing that you can cross off you to do list!

You might want to try the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. It is a classy and elegant resturant with private rooms. They will be able to accomodate your size party!

Looking for dresses can drive you insane! I also had to decide between a traditional wedding dress with lace, and a modern, summery and elegant dress. I kept wishing I could buy all 5 dresses I fell in love with, and change every hour. But at some point you just decide, and then go with that look. Good luck!

Along the idea of restaurants, did you ever eat at the Old Inlet Inn in Bellport? Really great place and I think they do parties upstairs. The food is delicious and it is in a sort of an old house so it's cozy... just an idea.

It is quite possible that you feel that they are imposing a situation on you that you are not ready to handle, but that is proably b/c they didn't handle it correctly. had they come to you and spoken about it correctly and in a non-assuming manner, I am sure you would not be feeling the way you are.

I really hope this works out for you. It seems that this situation may put up a wall between you and your future in-laws for all the wrong reasons. Communication is a skill that not many people understand or have.

I confronted my mother-in-law to be...confronted my fiance and said "small" or nothing....after much bickering and arguing...we're having a fairly small brunch at the Three Village Inn..they do almost everything for you....honestly if they didn't...I'd just elope...if you all let this five hour event make you sick...you won't have the strength to survive the first battle over whose house you are going to spend the holidays at.....Take your vitamins......and good luck...JessicaE

Try the Metropolitan in roslyn

It sounds like you got a great deal. My price is a little lower, not much, but we did not get video. They told us we could add it later in Jan or Feb. So, I guess we need to make a decision on that.

I'll check my package tonight and let you know more tomorrow.
