Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

this is very common and i dont think anyone should be surprised that a wedding does not include children!

I personally am inviting all the kids in the family BUT that is a personal choice that I made with FH - you are the bride - you make the decisions!

good luck!

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

I am having the same issue my FFIL wants me to invite the kids on his side since there are only like 2 but there are like 15 on my side and I don't think it's fair to invite them without inviting my side..he disagrees though!! I planned on only having my sisters 3 kids cause there in the wedding and 1 other that is in the wedding also. I don't think its fair of him to tell me to invite them!!!

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

I am having kids at my wedding, but there will be like 4 at the most under age 10. I can understand not wanting to have 20 kids at your wedding. That adds up to a lot of money and possibly some parents having to leave early. Have you offered to help with finding babysitters for thiose who are form out of town? Maybe that could help!

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

Does the RH have a room where the kids can go and you hire babysitters for them? I've seen other brides do this. In the other rooms the kids have videos, coloring books, etc. HTH.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

I'm only having my first cousins (I'm the oldest) they range from 16-7 and my nephews (16-10)

No one else is invited with children.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

We have the no kids under 10 rule, too. Most of FH and my cousins are teenagers...the youngest ones are 11. They're so excited for a wedding--esp the girls (it's the first in a long time for my family) so I don't want to leave them out. However, I don't want little ones. One of my older cousins has 2 young, very wild kids and I'd be afraid they'd knock over the cake.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

Im right there with you on the no kids thing!
We have his 3 nieces and my 1 nephew and THATS IT! My cousins have too many children and my last name isnt 'Trump'
If you bend the rules for one, then everyone expects you to do the same. Your mother may be a little annoyed right now, but in the end..who has control over mailing out the invitations?
This is YOUR day...they're all just gonna have to deal with it.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

You're not wrong. I've been to a few weddings and haven't seen many kids present, especially at a night wedding. I love kids, but i think if your reception ends at 12:30 it might change the mood of your reception to have so many that young there.

Don't mean to offend any with children or inviting them.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

With my family we would of had about 25 kids under the age of 18. So the only kids are my flower girl and ring bearer. Everyone else is 18+
Don't get me wrong...I wish I could invite all the kids...but then I would have a different type of wedding then I wanted....not to mention it would cost so much more $$$$.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

Thanks for your help... I am soo stressed out, if we invited all teh children under 10 then we will have 29 children under the age of 16 there... I appreciate all the help... I want to stick to no kids, but as I see it now, we may be 15 people under our minimum, which presents another issue, then why can't the kids come??? Any suggestions on that??? I still want to follow the no children under 10... any advice on waht to say to mom...?

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

My mom and I just had a huge fight about kids at the wedding. We agreed over a year ago, that no kids will be invited under the age of 10. I love my cousins but I have too many. We would be inviting 20 kids under the age of 10, with more than half of them under the age of 6. I feel that she is only arguing with me because my uncle is hesitating about going because his 3 year old was not invited. I can't make an exception for one without the other 20 coming... My wedding is a Saturday night, with the reception ending at 1230 am, I am concerned about 20 kids running around, yelling, and crying and changing the atmosphere of my wedding? Am I wrong for this? PLEASE HELP!!! SO STRESSED OUT!

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

No, you're not wrong. I don't think small kids should be at an evening affair, small kids should be home in bed. Period. Age ten as a cutoff seems very reasonable to me. Stick to your guns.

However, I'm not one of those who think that kids don't belong at weddings--I think weddings are family affairs, and kids are familiy. They're one of the points of marriage, right? So for a daytime wedding like mine, I think kids are a great addition to the party. I told everyone to bring their kids, even babies. Although I'm going to make sure that any parents of babies or toddlers know that they have to take any crying or loud child out from the ceremony, I don't want my ceremony ruined by a crying baby. To me, it's the most natural thing in the world that you'd excuse yourself and calm the baby someplace else, but I know not everyone does it. For some reason.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

I have a very large family!!

I prefer if the younger kids...10 and under not attend except my RB's & FG, but if my family has to bring their kids, so be it....getting married to me is a family celebration...for children and adults alike
