Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

You are not wrong at all! I wrestled with this a bit but I went to a very close friend's weeding about 6 months before the wedding and she had a lot of kids. Don't get me wrong - they were good - but they were kids - they were running around a lot and all over the dance floor. After that wedding I was like 'no way!'

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

My mom and I just had a huge fight about kids at the wedding. We agreed over a year ago, that no kids will be invited under the age of 10. I love my cousins but I have too many. We would be inviting 20 kids under the age of 10, with more than half of them under the age of 6. I feel that she is only arguing with me because my uncle is hesitating about going because his 3 year old was not invited. I can't make an exception for one without the other 20 coming... My wedding is a Saturday night, with the reception ending at 1230 am, I am concerned about 20 kids running around, yelling, and crying and changing the atmosphere of my wedding? Am I wrong for this? PLEASE HELP!!! SO STRESSED OUT!

I felt the same way as you.....I really did. Both my husband and I never wanted children at our wedding. We both LOVE children, but we wanted our reception to be adult only. BUT, in the end, there was 8 children there. That was fine.......we just bought coloring books and crayons from the dollar store.......got glow necklaces and stuff like that and they ALL were well behaved. They danced all night and had a great time!

I really hope it all works out for you.........

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

No kids at all for us either, i want everyone to have a good time, we love kids, but worked to hard and long for guest to leave early and to be worried about what there kids are doing and not doing and who is tired and cranky, actually many of our friend who have kids are taking limos and the other ones are staying overnight in the same hotel as us, they tell us its there little escape so they can spend some much needed time together and have some fun, since it will be over around midnight, we automatically excluded any children, its our day and thats what will make us happy, so you have to do what is right for you.......good luck with everything.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

It is your day and you should have it the way you want it. Are the kids going to make or break you day? Probably not, but is is an adult saturday evening and i understand where you are coming from. I have 7 nieces, nephews combined and they will be at my wedding b/c I want them there. When they start to get tired, out of control or whatever ,someone(a sitter) will take them home. Do not stress over it, they will just have to find a way to make arrangementds for there kids. People usually do not invite children.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

Hey Noreen! It's Danielle... lol I wondered if you were on here, I haven't seen you until now!

But I say if you don't want kids there, which I completely agree with... then don't back down for anyone! It's yours and Kevin's wedding and it should be up to you... and I know I wouldn't want my reception to turn into a playground either!

I hope everything works out ok! Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for your help... I am soo stressed out, if we invited all teh children under 10 then we will have 29 children under the age of 16 there... I appreciate all the help... I want to stick to no kids, but as I see it now, we may be 15 people under our minimum, which presents another issue, then why can't the kids come??? Any suggestions on that??? I still want to follow the no children under 10... any advice on waht to say to mom...?

Just tell her you don't want kids there - this is an adult party. Period. You shouldn't have to offer anymore explanation than that.

To be honest, MOST parents don't want to drag their children to a wedding anyway.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

Everyone has a different opinion on this subject. It is your wedding and you are entitled not to have kids there! Stick to your guns and don't let anyone pressure you into doing something you don't want!
NO KIDS means NO KIDS, no exceptions!!!!!!!
If your uncle doens't come OH WELL! don't let that bother you!
XOXOXO

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

No kids at my wedding! I decided that a longggg time ago and although FMIL is having a hard time with it claiming that some family members may not attend due to the fact that they can't bring their kids- That is NOT my problem. We are going to see if we can get one of my cousins friends (my cousin is 18) to stay in one of the hotel rooms and baby sit any out of town kids, but that's the best we can do. Stick to your guns. This is the one night in your life that you get everything you have ever dreamed of- don't give in for the sake of someone else!

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

There will only be 1 kid at my wedding and he is the ring bearer. It is too much to have children running around on your big day.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

I'm pitting the families against one another:
'I've already told FH's family that THEIR kids can't come' & visa-versa.

I can't BELIEVE ppl just won't get a DARN babysitter!!!!! My parents use the 'so they won't come then' & I say 'so be it'....honestly....the fewer the people, the less $$$ the wedding!

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

well considering your wedding is next month i think its too late to change your 'rules'. if you do it for one then you have to do it for all and that could add up. have you met your minimum? if not, then why not invite the kids?

for us, we love kids so we wanted them there. anybody who had kids was invited with their children. but alot of them wanted to just relax for an evening and get a sitter and leave the kids at home.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

The equiette that people have. We are having 11 children at our wedding. They are nieces and nephews and a few other children who are involved with the wedding.

I call my uncle and aunt so I could speak to my cousin to see how she is doing. She is getting married in June. She was not home so I spoke to her mom. I knew that she was going to drive me a little up the wall.

Anyway, I asked how everyone was and she told me. Then she mentioned that her son and his wife will be unable to attend my wedding because their four children are not invited and they can not find a baby sitter.

We have not send out the invitations yet and our wedding is not until September 29, 2007. I spoke with my cousins wife about two months ago because she wanted to know if she had to get babysitters. She said that she has to get one for each child. I am a bit confused on that one.

The point is I think that my cousin should have contacted me about this situation and that it is none of aunt's business to even mention it to me.

I will still be sending my cousin and his wife the invitation for the wedding and see what happens.

Note to this situation my aunt likes to cause conflict and trouble. Sorry, but I just needed to really VENT!!! Thank you.

Re: HELP!!! Kids at Wedding?! AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

No, you are not wrong about this. People don't understand that kids cost $$ too, and if you invite one, the other parents probably won't understand. Maybe you should talk to your uncle.
