HELP!! LOW BUDGET.. NEED VENUE!

Hello!

So here's my dilemma...

My fiance and me moved down to North Carolina 2.5yrs ago from Long Island and just got engaged this past February. We had planned to have the wedding down here, although our family was up north, to save money and just because this is now home. We had everything planned out for an August 11th 2018 wedding until I received an unfortunate phone call that our venue was closing and they wouldn't host our event anymore. We were devastated as we had planned everything around it and had put in deposits elsewhere down here. In the following week he had to get knee surgery which has now completely derailed any of our planning and were mentally drained.

We've decided that maybe doing everything in NY will make it easier but now we're out money unless our photographer/videographer travel with us. I am looking for a venue in NY that is laid back and low key and just maybe has availability for the same date. I am interested in Captain Bills in Bay Shore and have heard great things about it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

RE:HELP!! LOW BUDGET.. NEED VENUE!

So sorry that happened...now that you are less than a year out - many venues will work with you if they have availability and want to fill the day since most brides on long island book a year + out.

I know in January 2017, the Bourne Mansion in Oakdale offered me $99 ahead for any dates left over in 2017 on Sundays...I decided to book elsewhere though.

Try Mansion at West Sayville? I just had my shower there . I think their wedding prices are affordable?

My friend just got married at Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers in NYC and it was very affordable - she paid for her wedding all by herself.

Don't forget to not just negotiate prices with these places...but negotiate what they offer you. A lot of places have all of these standard menus and their standard offerings but try to go out of the box! Ask if you can just do a few passed hors deouvres at cocktail hour instead of stations...have a buffet reception instead..etc

Good luck!

RE:HELP!! LOW BUDGET.. NEED VENUE!

I went to a wedding recently at the Ariana waterfall in Hempstead. It was well done for a low cost.

RE:HELP!! LOW BUDGET.. NEED VENUE!

I have looked into most of the budget venues on Long Island. They are all all-inclusive (including catering, cake, dj, limo, photography, florist)

Cheapest venues- about 9,000++ for 100 guests (but lacking aesthetically)
Marconi Manor (Islip)
Birchwood in Polish Town

Next bracket, still cheap but nicer (around 10,000-11,000++ for 100 guests)
Sunset Harbor- East Patchogue
Brentwood Country Club
Meadow Club- Port Jeff
Ariana Waterfall (Hempstead)
The Sterling (Bethpage)
Mediterranean Manor (Patchogue)

Slightly Pricier but still cheap for LI (12,000-13,000++ for 100 guests)
Smithtown Landing (Smithtown)
Mansion at West Sayville
Mansion at Timber Point (Great River)
Windows on the Lake (blah lol not worth it)

We ended up not liking anything enough in the first two price ranges and went with one in the 3rd.

Also check out Shandon Court in East Islip.  They have two rooms and a lot of flexibility.

RE:HELP!! LOW BUDGET.. NEED VENUE!

  1. Can you still call the closing venue? People who work in the industry know other people in the industry – ask them for help! Maybe some of their staff have gone to work for other venues,a nd would love to start their career at the new place by bringing in a wedding.
  2. People have planned amazing events in less than 3 months. My friend had her wedding at Captain Bill’s last year – my parents got married there 35 years ago also! – and it was wonderful, and she planned it in about 6 months. Don’t worry!
  3. IMO, I’d wait to update the vendors you’ve already booked until you secure the new space. Then reach out to all of them with “The new venue is XX, same time” or whatever the detail is. Assuming this is still on long island, it would be tacky and gross if they tried to throw in extra travel fees.
