If your friend lives on Long Island tell him to bring the dog to the shelter where he lives. It will have more chance of getting adopted out of the island then the city shelter.

THIS bc nyc ac&c put dogs to sleep like its their business!
LI shelters are a little better .. they arent over flooded like the city shelters =\

always remember all the shelter dogs dying bc they have no homes!! OPT TO ADOPT =)

yes i am one of those 'crazy ladies' who will ALWAYS have mix breed shelter dogs ! mutts are IMO the best they arent inter-bread and dont come with all those problems/allergies =)
i love my north shore animal leage pups and my saved from brooklyn street cats

Pitts rarely survive in a city shelter please do not take her to one. Any update?

I can not believe how cruel people are! this breaks my heart.
Did your friend take it to a vet yet? FH and i want a pitbull.. he wants to know the definite breed and approximate age-he's worried that if older, it may not adapt well to our baby nieces and he's nervous for that.

but as far as your friend can tell, how is the demeanor?

Please get back to us about status! i can't bear to think about what may happen to this poor dog!

Did you try Northshore Animal league? They are no kill. Don't send this poor dog to a kill shelter. As a pit she won't last
Also, I'd post this on long island families too to get more traffic.

The people who found her are taking really good care of her, and they don't want to put her in a shelter. They want to make sure she has a good home and I'm hoping it's at our house!

Keep us posted on how it works out!!! FH wants a pitbull for when we move in...it's still early, but he gave in after seeing the pix! GOOD LUCK!!!

as i'm reading all the posts i'm hoping to read she's got a home... Good luck MrsMikey, i hope it all works out for you. She looks like a beautfiul dog that's sad and needs some love.

try north shore animal league in manhasset. i just got my dog there (2-3 yr old chiuhaua) and they deal with mostly rescues and older animals. their website is www.animalleague.org . keep us informed! HTH!!!

they are also a no-kill shelter so thats def a plus!!!

Hello ladies... FH and I actually just left from meeting the dog. She is beautiful, mild-tempered, playful... AND WE ARE TAKING HER!!!! The couple who have her now have been taking amazing care of her and we are so grateful for people like that!
