Honeymoon????

Does anyone know a good place to go for a honeymoon. My finacee and I are paying for our wedding, so there isn't a lot of money left for an exclusive honeymoon, but I would like to go to a beach area in the Carribean or something relaxing. Can't afford too much, but I'll need it. Has anyone gone anywhere nice, but inexpensive.

Thanks for your info!!!

I showed up about 10 minutes befor my 2pm appointment. I found the alterations department in the rear of the dressing room area. There were two woman there the day I came in and she asked me if I needed any help putting my gown on. I said no. Reason being that I have to put it on all by myself on my wedding day. So that was a real trick in itself. The woman who fitted me was named Maria, she was very nice. The whole fitting took all of 15/20 minutes tops. She told me to leave the garment bag (that I bought when I got my gown from them) and she asked me when I wanted to pick the finished gown back up. I picked the date myself. She said that there is no charge for storing your gown there but I will have my gown all ready about 5 weeks before my wedding date. (I made the appointment about 12 weeks in advance)

Honeymoon????

Cancun is beautiful and inexpensive. I know it's Mexico and may be further than you'd like to go, but it's wonderful.

Dear Glory,

I didnt need the hem done, which saved me like $50.00 alone.

Honeymoon????

The Dominican Republic is nice for a quick get-away... It is only a 3 hour flight and you are definitely in another country. Go-Go tours does nice all-inclusive packages for pretty reasonable prices.

Depending on what time of the year you plan on getting married, the Carribean has a pretty violent hurricane season...Usually from August till Nov. Just beacareful. Don't get talked into a cheap carribean vacation that time of the year. It is cheap for a reason!!!

I'll tell you guys how it turns out.

Honeymoon????

I went to the Dominican Republic the first week in November. I stayed at the Riu Bambu in Punta Cana (www.riuhotels.com). Seven nights at this all-inclusive resort(meals, alcohol, non-motorized sports, etc) including airfare was only $780 per person. We went through Apple vacations and had an amazing time. The beach was more beautiful than in Jamaica. The price was almost double after 11/15, so it may be affordable depending on when your wedding is. The only downside was my fiancee and I were sick for a day even though we did not drink the water. Be careful! The food was good, not great, but there was a large selection at the buffets. If you would like more info on outside activities to do there, email me directly.

thanks, will do! :)*

Honeymoon????

Along the lines of Mexico Cozumel is beautiful as well-- def more low key than Cancun and depending on the time of year you dont' want to be in Cancun during Spring Break or when the high schools graduate Laura

You might want to check with the tuxedo shop - they're the ones that would know what would look better.

Honeymoon????

Thanks for all your input

Do you mind sharing who you used for hair/makeup? Were you happy with the job they did. I'd also like to have people come to the house to do my hair/makeup and that of my bridesmaids.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, approximately how much did they charge?

Honeymoon????

What is Apple travel? I've seen it mentioned on other postings. Do they have a website?

Thanks, Jenn

Thats great, I remember when I was looking for one for my wedding and the best I could come up with with hand outs was $900.00! I think some of the prices vendors are charging are getting a little too steep.

Honeymoon????

When my fiance was doing research for our honeymoon, he read about the Dominican Republic. There is a lot of poverty there, which he why people don't think of it for vacations, but I think there are some resort areas where that you might be able to find some good deals. Maybe something to look into.

I just loved the idea of going to the Carribbean and not having to stay for more than a day. This way you can get an idea of which islands you like best, and go back at a later time. Also, I haven't been to the park in a while, so that was also a dream of mine.

My problem is in planning it 1 1/2 years from the date. No one is willing (or able) to help at this time because it is too soon. I just want a guideline on what the prices might be and what I might be getting for comparison reasons. Anyone have a good travel agency that would be willing to do this? (We also want to try to save as much towards the trip as we can now.)

Honeymoon????

The Bahamas is relatively inexpensive and nice. Aruba is also nice.

I'd never heard of that place but will be sure to visit it soon! Thanks - as always - for your words of wisdom! Much appreciated!

Boy does it sound like we have similair taste LOL I got them at FantasyLand in Patchogue. There are different price ranges depending on what kind of stem you want. I think mine were less than $1 because I decorated them myself. You should take a ride out there, they would definitely have frames too. I planned half of my wedding from that place! Gina :)
