House Vendors

Okay, what's the advantages/disadvanages of booking a house vendor? I just booked the reception and I'm on to the next step(DJ,Flowers,Photos,& Limos)? Is there a discount, or am I better off researching myself?

Hi Valerie. I recently booked my reception as well. My reception hall said in the contract that if I use the house vendors I do not have to pay for their meals. I checked out the house photographer/video and band. Neither of them were giving me a price break because of the reception site. I did more research on my own. I booked a different photographer/video co. last night (Fine Art Photography in Jericho check them out)so I have to pay for them to eat (1/2 price) But the quality of work was better. My reception hall offered me the same thing. No charge on the meals if we use their vendors, 1/2 price on non- house vendors. We are going to have a DJ, so even if we go with someone else, it will not be a huge charge. Do reception halls refer these vendors b/c they are the best they can recommend in their field, or is it a monetary issue? Can you recommend any DJ's also? Keep in touch!

Hi I dont necassarily think that house vendors are always the best. I checked out Spin Around Sound - Contact Tom White 212-352-0007. He was awesome. We saw a video and his music list. Not obnoxious or your "typical" DJ he is very professional and creative (and he is not 19 years old with no experience). Definetly give him a call and tell him I recommended him ( oh god I hope your wedding isnt the same day as mine I might book him 10/28/00??)(I am trying to satisfy my fiance by checking out some bands too). Is it standard for the reception hall to not charge for feeding their house vendors if we hire them?

What about at the Milleridge?

Hi Karen. I am not sure if it is normal for halls not to charge for house vendors meals. My hall does not charge for house vendors (too bad i am not using any of them) They are charging me 1/2 price a meal for non house vendors. Hope this helps
