Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

The closest 2 large hotels to our reception will be the Hilton and the Marriott. FH and I are fans of the Marriott...but I'm wondering if any of you know what time the bar/lounge stays open until at either hotel? Hilton's website says 2 a.m. for theirs.

Any experiences with them? We want our close friends to be able to hang out after (our wedding ends at midnight). Any advice would be appreciated. I'd like to block rooms at either one. Thanks!

Re: Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

We booked the Huntington Hilton. The rates were good. They have a shuttle we can rent to go back and forth to the hall.

They also have a bar and a place for brunch the next morning.

The bar stays open till 2am but if the place is still busy they said they will keep it open, its up to the bartender.

The rate they quoted me was $109.00 per room.

$210 for a bridal suite

the shuttle is $470 (thats with tax and tip)

Good Luck!

We were told that the bar will stay open until 'whenever' if there's a good crowd.

Re: Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

We checked out both as well as the Four Points Sheraton in Plainview... We found that the Sheraton gave us more for the money. My FBIL and FSIL booked rooms at the Hilton after their wedding and we weren't happy. They closed the bar before we got back to the hotel (after the bride and groom TOLD them we were staying there to 'continue the party'...) which was about 11:30pm, our room was very noisy and some of the glasses were dirty in the restaurant.

The Marriott was nice, but their bar does not stay open late.

We also saw both 'bridal suites' for the Hilton and Mariott. Nothing special. The one at the Sheraton has a private jacuzzi, glass enclosed shower and what FH liked best, a flat screen plasma TV. The manager also promised if we let them know that the bar would remain open.

They are a vendor on the site... check them out! I know there is another CLM bride using them as well...

Re: Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

We blocked rooms at the Hilton and the Marriott both quoted me a rate of $129 a night and Bridal Suite $209 at the Hilton. The Bridal Suite at the Marriott was more expensive

Re: Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

We used the Hilton for our wedding and all our guests were VERY happy. Our OOT's kept complementing us on what a great hotel we picked. After our wedding we all went back and hung out at the bar and they stayed open till our last guest left at almost 4 in the morning. They were great!!! We also used their shuttle for our guests and that was great too the driver was wonderful. Our suite was great and when we got back to it at the end of the night there was a bucket with champagne, two glasses and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us with a note from the woman who helped us, congratualting us. They were great. And the breakfast buffet the next morning was VERY good. We had a huge table with all our guests is was the perfect ending to a great weekend!!

Re: Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

I was a guest at a Huntington Townhouse wedding last weekend and we stayed at the Melville Marriott where the bride and groom had rooms blocked. We got back to the hotel, rowdy as ever, and the bar was closed. We were so disappointed. (It was 1 a.m., but the bar looked like it had been shut a while).

Also, as we went up to our rooms (about 3 couples and a few single friends all had rooms on the same floor) we discovered we were across the hall from the bride and groom. The look on their faces when they discovered this - priceless!

We used the Hilton. They kept the bar open for us, I think until 3-4 am.

Re: Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

When are you paying $109 for the guest rooms and $210 for the suite? I am getting married in July and our guests are paying more for the rooms... (Hilton Bride)

Re: Huntington Hilton or Melville Marriott?

Would it be too much of a problem to block off rooms in both places, sometime people perfer one hotel over another, this way they have the option of how much to spend and where to stay

I have never been to a wedding there, but I did a few work related events there, and I can tell you that the food was AWESOME!! I was very impressed to be honest with you. Usually at tradeshow and corporate events the food is substandard, so that's what I was expecting at the Hilton, but I was wrong.
