Re: I am going to a wedding at Russo's on the Bay this Friday (10/1)...

Hi sorry it has taken me so long...I am on vacation from work this week and have not been on line much!

I have FMed some of you with my review but here it is again!

To be honest I was not as floored as I expected to be but I think it had a lot to do with the wedding itself.

It was Friday night and it started at 8:30. I figured since it started kind of late that there wouldn't be a cocktail hour. Surprisingly there was. The food at the cocktail hour was really good. The staff was awesome...great bar service at the table and the staff overall was wonderful and very attentive. I wasn't crazy about where the cocktail hour was held...it was like a very long hallway...it was beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it was very long and narrow and we didn't even know that there was more food at the other end until we went into the reception room.

At 9:30 we went into the Renaissance room for the reception. The room was beautiful. The linens and chair covers looked great and the whole room looked beautiful. The first course was already on the table...mozzarella w/ tomatoes and peppers with balsamic vinegar. It was really good. The bridal party was introduced and the bride and groom appeared through a doorway with smoke and lights behind the DJ. It was very cute and very different...everyone went crazy when they saw that!!

There was dancing, they took our dinner orders, typical mingling and the staff in was still doing great. The next course was a pasta. I wasn't crazy about it at all...I think it was supposed to be a vodka sauce but I didn't love it. I am usually not very picky either. My sister however thought it was great and she is very picky so go figure! Then was a salad and I wasn't crazy about the dressing...it was some sort of vinaigrette and a few people at my table didn'y love it.

By this time it was around 12 and we still hadn't gotten our entrees!! Everyone was exhausted, people were yawning...most worked all day and were really tired at this point. About 12:15 our entrees came out. I had the King shrimp oreganata...it was tasty but the shrimp were very small. My cousin had the chicken and said it was great, my sister had the portobello entree and liked it and my FH had the steak and also said it was good.

After more dancing and the couple coming around to tables we were so tired that we decided to leave. Many people had already left before us because it was so late. I was not thrilled about it but FH had to be at work very early Saturday and we were tired. So we left at 1:10 and didn't see them cut the cake, dance with their parents, throw the garter, and I didn't know if there would even be a Viennese hour.

Overall I think Russo's was good. Like I said, I wasn't floored like I though I would be but it also could have been the couples choices. The fact that everything was done so late was just aweful and you could tell that everyone was just dragging until the end. I have been to other Friday night weddings but never like this.
