Threetwenty - I love that poem, but I can't read it anymore since I lost my cat. But it is perfect for anyone who loses a pet.

Rachel...its not stupid to feel this way at all...This a natural feeling. I have 2 cats and get anxious just thinking about anything happening to them. I also want to share that 3 days ago our pet lovebird passed away and I have been crying so much over her. We've had her for @ 5-6 years and she was a very significant part of our family and our daily ritual. Not having her around has been so difficult (crying as I am writing this

The loss of anything you love dearly will always be difficult, but, in time we must all move on and remember all the good times and good feelings they gave us. In a way you are actually saving you kitty from any pain and suffering, which is very helpful to her in a big way I'm certain.

to you. Do not feel silly at all!! I was completely distraught when I had to put my cat down.
I cried for days before and days after. Pets are like your children or family. You get so attached to them.
I'm so so sorry that you have to do this, it is definitely not an easy thing to do.
If it's her time to go, it's just that time - she'll be in peace. I'm sorry

I remember when we put my cat to sleep - everyone was crying hysterically, even my dad and grandma. Just remember it's for the best. I found a great therapy was to get another cat once it stopped hurting. It fills that void you have to love a furry little creature

When my bird died, I cried for days and I only had him for 2 years. It was the worst.

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. I'm not taking this well at all. The only good thing is that I have until Friday, which is when they are taking him to the vet.

I feel for you! To know that you have to do this on Friday is so hard! Like any pet, a cat is a member of the family, not just an animal, and he or she is probably the most non-judgemental family member. They are so good to us and I understand how awful you feel. We lost a cat in December (actually we were catsitting so techincally the cat was not ours) yet we took her death very hard.

DON'T feel stupid! Pets are family and I totally understand what you are going through. We had to put my dog Benji to sleep a year and a half ago. It still hurts
