I agree with the others -- you HAVE to be happy and feel beautiful in your gown!!! I also had the problem that the gown I wanted was way over budget... I HAD to go for it anyway!

Anyway... I really think you should continue to shop around... I can tell the look you are going for so... did you like any of these gowns?

David's has a dress or two like that too - they're also good for frugality.

Also try doing an advanced gown search on weddingchannel.com -- you can select all the features you want in a gown -- poet/Bell sleeves; a-line, etc. I believe the Bridal Originals are an affordable line also. Good luck!

Here is a pic of my dress.. it's not totally renaissance (sp?) but I think it might be close to something like it. the sleeves give it a little bit of that renaissance flair.

It's a Paloma Blanca Diva, and I tried it on at Lillette's.

ETS: It was about $1200

oakslady, I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I just went through it.

I ended up hating my dress, I hated the way it looked an me. I went back and forth on what to do and last week I bought another dress that I absolutley LOVE.

And I have to tell you I AM SO MUCH HAPPIER and NOW I AM SO EXCITED for the wedding day. I can't wait to wait to wear my new dress on my day.

I did take a loss (which was the deposit on the first dress) and we are paying for the entire wedding ourselves so it was a hard decision. But in the end, I am so much happier and for me it was worth the loss of the deposit.

well i sat down and figured it out and i would end up loosing 270 if i cancel the first dress - it is a hard choice but i think i have to go with something that will make me feel good - and the one i have definately doesnt -

As a bride that felt the same way.......go for the dress you want!!

Yes it may cost more but it's YOUR day (and your Fh's too of course) and while I can understand the stress of choosing an expensive dress for one day, if you settle for something you are not happy with, you won't feel your best (IMO).

If you can swing it, buy the dress you like. Can you put it on a low % rate credit card and pay it off?

It is very pretty from waht I see in the pictures.

Yes! There's a store in East Rockaway called Blanchee and I know that someone else on the boards got her dress custom made there. That is a very good option and won't cost (hopefully) $2000 (which then you have to get altered anyway)!

If you live too far from East. Rockaway maybe there's another seamstress near where you live but the person on the boards (I forget her name sorry) said she was very pleased with the results.

met the seamstress and she is definately very good at what she does - i have to pick some fabric now so i am off to floral land or something like that ( my bms are dragging me off to ) so we can see fabric.
hopefully it will turn out good - fingers and toes crossed
