Re: I'm trying to be happy.
I am so sorry for your loss. I too would have a hard time planning a wedding if that only happened five months ago. My heart goes out to you and your family. You should really just do what you feel is right. Please let us know if you need help at all.

Re: I'm trying to be happy.
I am getting married two months before you and I ordered my dress less than a month ago- and it should be in two months before my wedding. I think you can put it off for another month or so-- I also only looked for under a month0- I packed a couple of appts. into one day, etc.
It's good to hear that....that makes me feel better.

Plus-- I just posted on another thread here-- I ordered a dress, then changed it.. and I did not even start looking until the middle of July. You have time.

Even better....Cause at this point if I could... I'd just order it out of a magazine..like i'm ordering from victoria's secret or something.

I would not do that.. I know you may not place a lot of importance on a dress right now, but when you wedding day comes, and when you look back on pictures-- you'll want to have something that is special to you. I think once you feel up to looking, you;ll feel better about the wedding.
Obviously you are going through something terrible- but, shopping for dresses and getting my dress is what really made me feel like a bride- and it was 5 months into my engagement already.. It might be good for you, ya know??

Re: I'm trying to be happy.
I cant begin to try and make you feel better. I just wanted to tell you that I have been through anothers suicide, and right now I think its too much for you to plan the wedding. Is there any way that you can? Do you want to? Maybe talk to your catering hall and some vendors and see what they say?
You dont want to rush yourself and force yourself into something you are not ready for. Take your time and grieve!!!! Its perfectly normal.
If you really want to go through with the date, then we are here for you and I am sure you will find a dress soon. I think you are in okay shape for a bit though. I just ordered mine last month.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do!

Re: I'm trying to be happy.
Oh my god, I am sooo sorry for your loss... as someone who went through losing both her parents within 6 months of each other, I understand the grief process, and even though every situation is different, and every person's grief is different, it is still something that is soooooooo difficult!! Tell everyone who is 'pushing' you to get a dress, etc... to shove it up their butts!! Noone but you can know what you are able to do right now, and if it is nothing, then it is nothing, and dont let anyone dictate to you what you 'should' be doing. Noone but you is in your shoes. Do what you can to help yourself... you are going through so much and you need to take care of yourself and not worry about what everyone else thinks you should be doing... and as for the wedding... I'm sure if your fiancee loves you, he understands and will understand if you need to push it back a little, and your family should understand that too. If you need anything FM me!! SOrry this is sooo long!!

Re: I'm trying to be happy.
I'm very sorry for you loss and everything you're going through.

I ordered my dress at the 7 month mark. So you still have time. Even if you wait too long, there are places that do sell off the rack. My friend planned her wedding in 2 months! I'm not suggesting you wait until the 2 month mark, just to make sure you take enough time for yourself.

Re: I'm trying to be happy.
Kath,I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot even begin to imagine how hard it must be to plan a wedding right now. I understand your family telling you they need the happiness in their lives now, but for you to focus on this while in mourning is a huge amount of pressure. Planning the wedding takes so much out of you. If there is ANYTHING you need, please just reach out.

Re: I'm trying to be happy.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Act, feel and do whatever you have to do for YOU right now. The wedding planning can get done in a short amount of time. Take all the time you need and it is great that you are seeing someone to talk to about it. You shouldn't be expected to be happy right now, you are going through a lot.
