Veronica- Plead not guilty. Nassau County tickets are so easy to get out of. They have lawyers there that plead the charges down. Tell them you did nothing wrong. I'll go with ya if you want. If your record is clean, then its even better.

Says last name is LASTNAME, FIRST and first name is MIDDLENAME

I just went through something similar. Go to court early and meet with a lawyer there, there are always lawyers there. He will probably plead you down so you only have to pay $50 and will have no points on insurance. Good Luck!

Definitely plead not guilty. The ticket isn't any good. When the cop takes your information down. Everything has to be perfect. Bri got a ticket, and the cop wrote the wrong date down. I noticed it right away. She plead not guilty. Went to court with school records showing that she was teaching at the time. The cop never showed. He must have realized he messed up.

Veronica. I have gotten a lot of tickets in my earlier years of life. Believe me if he didn't write the correct info down, they can't win. Thats not your husband's correct legal name. All you have to do is show that to the lawyer there.

Wait he pulled into ure driveway and gave u a ticket there? I didnt think cops could give tickets to you on your property? Maybe that is just an urban legend.

WOW .. that really sux!

You absolutely should fight the ticket .. but maybe you don't need a lawyer .. think about the fine .. then consider what you'd have to pay a lawyer.

Yes, there is the chance you insurance would go up .. but I'm sure you could call your insurance company (without giving your name & policy number) .. and just ask what would happen to a clean record with the type of ticket you received .. just so you know if you really are looking at an increase .. you may not.

And when you do go to court .. and they make you an offer .. if they don't totally dismiss the ticket .. you can then reject the offer .. and it goes to trial .. that might be where you'd want to bring in the lawyer.

But I'd cover all the bases first .. check lawyer fees .. check with your insurance company.

I know what it's like to be tight for money .. quickly bringing a lawyer into the mix could possibly make things more expensive than if you handled this on your own.

Veronica, my dad has gotten out of a ticket b/c it had the incorrect color of the car. If Jim's name is wrong, you'll be fine.

BINGO!!! You are out of the ticket. The ticket is not valid since his name is wrong. He will still have to appear to fight it, I guess you can go as a witness . . . You can actually call the traffic court and ask them about lawyer info- they may have some names for you, but I honestly don't think you will need one.

VEronica, I agree with everyone else get a lawyer it sounds like someone had a bad day and was mad to be in the cold and took it out on you. I am sorry that you were treated so badly.

Ok....here's some advice from someone who has had a ticket or two....Since you will be appearing in Nassau....you really DON'T need a lawyer...not for this kind of ticket. First, send in your ticket and plead not guilty. You will appear on your date and will conference with a ADA (assistant DA). Tell him your story. Most of the time they will just reduce your fine. If you don't like the deal they give you ask for a trial...then they will send you a date in the mail...it could be two years down the line....enough time for the cop not to show, or buy you some time to get through the wedding details.

If you go with a lawyer you're going to be paying him the money you would save by pleading it down yourself. And your insurance is not going to go up that much unless you have a lot of other violations on there already. Most insurance companies give you a three point buffer anyway.

Keep in mind this works in Nassau...NOT in suffolk...suffolk you're screwed whether you're innocent or not! (Unless you're in an incorporated village or Riverhead) Hope this helped. FM if you need more info

Last night during dinner I asked Jim why he told the cop he saw no on-coming traffic at all.. he says cause there was none and I told him about the slow car and such and he said 'Yeah but that was over there, I thought the cop was talking about this (much closer) light' So when the cop said 'funny how he doesnt remember a car but you do' now I know what he meant.. he never told Jim which corner he was talking about.. poor jim thought up to this moment that he REALLY had just done absolutely nothing wrong but pull into his house.. Now he's angry cause he knows we waited for that car, with all the baseball beatings going around so close to our house, he just assumed the driver was preoccupied or something and then after waiting for him, made his turn, SAFELY!

bah.. still angry

to top things off.. the key broke inside the car door today!

I was told that the wrong name on the ticket is an urban legend...i would still fight the ticket and get it reduced down and save yourself some money
