With everything I am trying to stay under $30,000, but since I won the prize its actually only $20,000 out of my own pocket
What prize did you win?
It was the Walk Down The Aisle contest, WALK FM had.
The value of the prize is $10,000, it includes my hall and a bunch of vendors
That is awesome!

WOW. I am so impressed!! I was starting to Panic thinking my budget was way under. I set my budget at 40K for Sat afternoon, approx 200 PPL in Sept. (including everything except dress and tuxes). Now that I read this thread, I will still save that much, but shoot for a little less of a budget!! Thanks Guys. You just gave me hope!!

Somewhere between 12-15K with the max of 20K. We are within budget right now. We're only having about 100-120 guests on a Friday night.

I am new to the site but we booked Caffe on the Green in Bayside. Its my second wedding and i did not want the 'factory' feeling of a big catering hall. I did that the first time. I wanted something more intimate. Caffe on the Green starts at 85.00 per plate and then goes from there. You can go there for dinner and sample the food, its great. Good Luck

Sometimes I think thats the smarter thing to do....I am unfortunately spending a fat down payment on a house for my wedding...but I'm one of those typical girls that have that 'its my one day' mentality.
I'm sure I may regret it later...hope fully not, but then maybe after the wedding, with all the gifts, and then saving for the house like we did for the wedding....can buy a house...
As for you...way to go smart thinker!!!![]()
Nina, I'm just like you. I am only thinking of that one day. Thank God fiance has more common sense and is thinking past that, so he sometimes has to talk me out of some stuff that I want and in a way is unnecessary. Getting a house is so expensive that I see it as it doesn't matter how much we spend on the wedding (not like I'm going crazy spending) it is still going to take us a long time to put a down payment on a house.
I understand that, but I have a 6yo daughter and it is important for us to be settled sooner than later. We wanted an intimate wedding and that is what we are having. I admire you ladies for doing what you want on your day because it only comes around once!

Re: If You guys don't mind me asking
way too much... i'm especially irked that people charge 5x more for the exact same service when its a wedding. what a racket...

Re: If You guys don't mind me asking
should be about 10K - call me a wheeler dealer and a serious budget person!Couldn't imagine spending more - heck I have so many other bills and things.
One day shouldn't cost as much as it does. I want to have much more for all the other things I need.

Re: If You guys don't mind me asking
With honeymoon and my dress, probably about $130,000 - my FILs wanted a huge wedding and are willing to pay for most of it, which I am VERY thankful for.

So far we have only booked the hall and church. The grand total so far is $25,000. We still have a long way to go band or dj, flowers, dress, photographer, limos and the list continues!!

Re: If You guys don't mind me asking
Right now, at my minimum of 110 people with HM but without e-ring (and mom paying for bridal attire), I am under 20K for Sat afternoon wedding. That is with w-bands and H-moon. But if 30 more people show...I would say under - hmmmm - under 25K. I had good people around me that led me to great deals.Welcome New Vendors
