Is Aruba too WINDY???

Hi! I've heard that Aruba is the 'windy island', and someone told me it was painful and that they couldn't even lay out. Most others say it's wonderful and not an issue. Has anyone been there? What are your thoughts? Wedding is November. Thanks:)

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

I've never been there but I've heard the same exact things. Some people say its definitely a problem and others say its no big deal. FH's sister and her boyfriend went there last year and had an amazing time. When I asked about the wind, her boyfriend said 'yeah, it is really windy' but apparently it didn't stop them from having a great time. My brother and his wife went there on their HM about 5 years ago and never complained about it. Did you speak with a travel agent about it yet? Most of them have been to Aruba...

We went to Aruba for our HM and it was not that windy at all. It did not bother us.

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

I too am thinking of Aruba and then going on a cruise after. I have talked with a lot of people and they say the wind is not all that bad it makes it bearable and I have not heard of the sand flying. I would like to get some more advice from people who have been there recently.

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

I'm not sure if I would trust a travel agent. They might say anything to sell the place. On the plus side, maybe the wind makes the heat more bearable, like you said. I guess asking around is the only way to know.

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

my poarents travel all over the carribean - my father HATED Aruba for that very reason. He aid it started to drive him mad that the wind never stopped blowing. My mother absolutely loved it and is still trying to get him to go back. But without that wind, it would be excruciatingly hot at certain times of the year.

I really think it depends on the time of year and the type of person you are.

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

i went there in June and it was breezy but not windy--big difference. i didn't find it to be a problem at all--infact we bought a time share there so we'll be going back often!

it's actually refreshing that there is a breeze when it's so hot.

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

I was there in November, and it was not that windy at all. It may depend upon the time of year you are there and we were told that since the hurricanes last fall, the weather there had been strange. We were told it never rains, but it rained several days that we were there (not the whole day- maybe an hour or less each time) and was overcast a lot of the time. Our cab drivers were also saying that since the hurricanes, the winds had died down.

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

Went for a week in July. yes it was windy. my hair blew around a lot, and i remember sitting at the pool wiht a beverage in a plastic cup on the ground next to me and it blew over.
but i wouldnt let a little wind get in the way of a nice trip.
ps. they have HUGE iguana's there that freely roam around your loung chair. that might bother some people more than the wind.

Re: Is Aruba too WINDY???

I have to disagree with the previous poster...Aruba is windy..due tro the tradewinds passing thru..We were there in August and it is but it is not crazy... It actually feels really good because you do not feel the heat as much.
