Re: Is it normal not to get engagement presents from FMIL, FFIL, and FBIL
Also, two months isn't that long. My FILs were the only ones that gave us a gift immediately (I was so not expecting a gift that it was such a nice surprise!). We got engaged early November, but we got some gifts at Christmas time, and then some after. One of my BM gave me a gift in April! So it's not that strange that people have waited a few months.

depends on the family and whether it is tradition in that family... don't take it personally!!! if you think they are happy for you and show support in other ways -- you've got nothing to worry about!

Some people are just like that. FH's sister never even called him to say congrats. We invited her and family to our engagement party and they didn't even call to say they weren't coming, and they didn't even send a card when they didn't come. It pisses me off, but what can you do?

We had an e-party, so it may be a little different, but my parents hosted the party and his parents gave us a gift.

Maybe they think you will have an engagement party. If they don't, then I think a card would have been nice. Something to say welcome to the family. Some people are really good about stuff like that, and then again some people aren't. If your FMIL always sends out cards for everything, then I would be offended. It might not be her thing.

We got a lot of engagement gifts after several months, not in the first few weeks!

No one in my FH's family recognized our engagement but I think it is because he was married before. I don't blame you for being upset I was too. His brother lives out of state and they came for a visit about 3 months after we got engaged and I took all the cards that I had received and put them back out on the entertainment center to make a point. His sister-in-law did say something like we should have sent you a card and I really wanted to say yes you should have but didn't bother figuring that I made my point!

We had an e-party so we got gifts from his parents while my Mom hosted. But I don't we would have gotten anything without the party (well, at least a card from his parents, I'm sure) but that would have been okay with me. I wouldn't be too upset - they have the wedding and the shower to still be very thoughtful. You never know, they might be planning a very generous wedding gift.

We didn't get anything from any of our parents or siblings, BUT everyone knew we were going to have an e=party.Yet it was strange b/c we were engaged 4 months b4 our party, so it was weird not getting cards or gifts at all.

Re: Is it normal not to get engagement presents from FMIL, FFIL, and FBIL
I really wouldn't worry about it. My FH's family got us gifts, but my family didn't get us anything (no cards either), but I don't think my family does that kind of thing. I don't think most people give engagement gifts and cards unless you send out announcements or have an e-party.

The only time we had gotten any gifts from FILs was at the engagement party.
