Just Cake?

Did anyone ever here about inviting some people just for cake? And how would you word it? Do you set a table just for people that are comming for cake? Is this something new?

I noticed groom's cakes are very popular in the South.

Just Cake?

I used to live in Florida (very near Alabama) and they do not have receptions like they do here. Usually, they just have people after the ceremony into the church hall or rec. area for cake. However, I have never heard of that in New York unless you have something informal at your home or someone else's home.

Just Cake?

in the beginning stages of planning, i was thinking of having a "dessert reception." i wanted to have the ceremony pretty late and follow it with a reception that had a vienesse (sp?) table, the cake, a variety of caoffes and teas and champagne. however, my father was appalled at the idea.. his words "if you inviting people to a party, you MUST feed them." so now we are having a big sit down dinner thing. but i still like the idea of a dessert reception.. you just need to make sure that it isn't at a time of day when people eat meals. we were going to have the ceremony at 8pm and have the reception at 9pm.. that way people would eat before coming. i hope this helps. good luck! -leighann

Good Luck.

I think that is a GREAT idea!!! Takes a lot of the pressure off of you to plan an entire 5 hour event. If people want to celebrate with you afterward GREAT!!! How about just the cocktail hour---which EVERYONE always LOVES and then dessert. People will be fed, happy and glad to see you on your special day.

I just wanted to pass this info along to everyone. I found a website called www.bestcameras.com where you can purchase the disposable cameras for $9.95 each. That price INCLUDES the developing. Also, you can custom design the camera casing for $10.95 per camera (including your own design if we are that creative!)

Have fun! -Elizabeth

NO YOU GOT ME WRONG! OK, IF YOU HAVE A FULL RECEPTION LIKE LETS SAY ABOUT 150 PEOPLE, WHAT DO YOU THINK... ABOUT INVITING MORE PEOPLE JUST FOR CAKE? AFTER DINNER HAS BEEN SERVERED.

I can't wait to do the grooms cake. My sweetie is a great drummer and tries to play as often as possible. He has toured with other bands helping out stage hand and has been in many bands. He knows nothing about it and I'm psyched about presenting him with a drum set cake in the color of his drums. It will be a chocolate cake and therefore, my guests have a choice. We can save the top of our wedding cake and his top drum for a year and celebrate and remember next year. The grooms cake is going to be one of my favorite memories of my reception.

LETS SAY YOU HAVE INVITED 150 PEOPLE TO YOUR WEDDING RECEPTION AND AFTER DINNER YOU INVITE SOME PEOLPE FOR CAKE ONLY ( YOU WOULD OF INVITED BUT YOUR FUNDS WOULDNT ALLOW IT) WHAT DO YOU DO? PUT THEM AT THERE OWN TABLE? IS THIS SOMETHING NEW?
