KAREN - Captiva Island!!

Hi Karen: I spoke with my travel office. I found a place called the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island off the Keys of Florida. It's beautiful, sort of like Little Palm Island, but a lot less expensive. I beleive they are running a special on their site for 144.00 per night, a little more for a nice room on the water. THey have tons of watersports, restaurants, beach, night life, bikes, etc. Looks gorgeous. I just got a quote from my travel agent for round trip at 149.00 each.

We decided on Woddbury cc down the road. The grounds are more secluded and nicer and I was really impressed with the menu, price and both reception rooms. There are two weddings at a time but they are really concerned about keeping them totally separate. The people you deal with there have been very nice also. They have also recently renovated the entire place so everything is new.

KAREN - Captiva Island!!

I went to South Seas last year. It is beautiful. Let me know if you have any questions!

Brendan

Did you bring your dresses to the stores in order to match the color/edging/pattern??? How did you handle it?

KAREN - Captiva Island!!

yes, but I don't know the address. I go into Yahoo or Alta Vista and I type in South Seas Resorts. They have several on Sanibel Island too.

I have something against that birdcage as soon as I walk in a room--dont know why but I do. We made our rounds and Jay put the envelopes inside his jacket, when it filled up we dropped them off at an elderly aunt who guarded the bag with her life LOL. To me there is nothing worse than attending a wedding and never talking to either the bride or groom--better yet, never receiving a thank you. I'm still waiting for one 3 yrs ago-how can you not send thank you's Grrrr!!

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!

KAREN - Captiva Island!!

I don't really know the difference. For a harbour side room and air it was 889.00 each. My friends in Travel tell me Sanibel is awesome too.

Lessings has a page on this site! http://www.liweddings.com/businesses/31/locations/lessings/index.html

I like the idea of handing them over to a trusted family member - and I have just the right person in mind! Thanks, everyone for all your input!

KAREN - Captiva Island!!

I rented a condo on Sanibel Island a few years back..and rented a scooter and drove to Captiva Island..they are connected. They are both very low-key areas..Its more of a relaxing place to go..with a wildlife preserve near by, if you like that sort of thing. Great sunsets in Captiva - Check out the bubble gum room and the Mucky Duck..(if they are still there!!!)Best part of our trip was the scooter rentals..and our visit to Thomas Edisons house in Ft. Myers (and henry Ford's house is next door)... The islands pride themselves as a "low crime" area. Its a very small community! Serene and nice.

Unfortunately, I was too into finding a dress to look at headpieces. I do remember some places had headpieces there but I didn't look at them or noticed the prices. Sorry!

Good Luck!! :-)
