Re: Kids at Reception???
I answered no. However, we're allowing my family to bring the children with them to the ceremony to be part of family photos. I'm hiring a baby sitter to watch the kids at the hotel for our day time wedding, and the parents will be back at 6pm/6:30pm.

Re: Kids at Reception???
the only children we are having is my flower girl and my altar boy who hpapen to be siblings. I really feel that unless they are your own siblings and/or you are really close with these children why have them there? IMO, they can cause a ruckus as it's too fomal of an event for most children to handle well. in addition, you have to pay the full cost per head for them and their parents won't have as much as fun as they could have becaseu they have to keep an eye on their kids. IMO, people just need to get a babysitter. i think it is rude for people to decline an invite just because they can't bring their kids...it's not fair for them to put that pressure on you.

Re: Kids at Reception???
the way I see it is if they cant get a sitter for a few hours to come to my wedding, then I DO NOT CARE if they dont come b/c obviously I'm not important enough to them. A few less people to pay for too.

Re: Kids at Reception???
The only 'kids' that will be invited to the reception are our nephews and niece. They're all in the wedding party, so... other than that, all our other cousins are old enough to hang
So we didn't have a problem with that. If FRIENDS of the family have kids, they were not invited, just the parents.It would have gotten WAY out of control if we invited ALL the kids our friends have.

Re: Kids at Reception???
It's funny because before my wedding, my answer would have been ABSOLUTLEY NO CHILDREN! But AFTER the wedding, I have to really say that it's silly not to have kids there if you have them in your family. First of all, you will not be tending to them AT ALL. Second of all, you will be in such a happy daze, you won't realize half the stuff that goes on at the reception until someone tells you weeks later! Had someone brought an entire army of small children to my reception, I wouldn't have noticed. I really think if you are on the fence, I'd say just have them there. It honestly won't affect you. (unless of course you know that people in your family have ***** spawn children, then I'm all for not having them there
)

Re: Kids at Reception???
We decided early on to invite everyone including children. Our families have never done it any other way.The way I see it, children are a part of both of our families and friends. Telling my friends and relatives that they can't bring their kids that I've played with, go to their birthday parties and value in my life would be like a slap in the face. It's like saying 'sorry, you're not old enough to be a part of the family or be my friend, you're not important enough to share this day with us.'
I know everyone has their opinions on not having children at a wedding, and while I understand and agree with those points, this is how I personally feel. The only young children that will be at my wedding will be my MOH's son and my brother's neices, 3 kids total. Considering that I do not have to worry about them, their parents do, why should I be concerned if they're there? If anything, I will be happy that their parents feel better that they could just bring the kids instead of running around stressing about a babysitter.
