Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
great thread! it is cool to be honest but the way you go about it is important. everyone has different tastes and your shack could be my castle. there was a hall that i did a search about on here and it was bashed. i visited there and thought it to be quite nice and very affordable. there were little issues but overall very pretty inside. everyone can't afford to be okeha castle, or flowerfield brides and shouldn't be made to feel bad. everyone here is so nice and i'm sure noone does this on purpose. we just need to be mindful on how reviews are given. ok i'll step down from my soapbox now.

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
I agree 100%. And I apologize if I am one of the people who may have ever contributed to that. I do tend to be opinionated, but I do try to make sure that no one's feelings get hurt in the process...I also have seen many differences in opinion, but I suppose that's why there are so many different kinds of caterers in NY!

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
I agree that we should all be respectful of other brides on this board, but sometimes there are bad experiences that can not be and, should not be, downplayed. I think the Videomaker hoopla is a clear example of that. At the time someone first started posting about that there were several brides who were offended because they had booked Marc.I don't think there is anything wrong with a post that says 'I heard (insert bad thing) about (insert vendor). Has anyone had any experiences with (vendor).' That person is looking for positive and negative feedback. Negatice feedback doesn't necessarily equate to a warning to stay away, and I don't think that it should be taken as such.
If I heard something bad about one of my vendors the first place I would come for reassurance is this board. And I would not want a bunch of opinions which were geared only towards being nice - I would want the truth.
I just wouldn't want to discourage anyone from posting a negative experience or concern about a vendor to avoid hurt feelings. If we can't come here for the good, the bad and the ugly then this site looses some of its relevance.

Becky, I see your point, and I do appreciate hearing the not so good along with the good, however my point is that sometimes tact is not exercised. There is a way to say things without being hurtful.

I agree too, I have seen hurtful comments about my hall and here I am, saving every dime to pay for this wedding and people trash it. It's not cool!

Re: Ladies when giving opinions on reception sites
Hi..I have to agree 100%...My hall is Always getting a Bad rap!!! I book there before I found this site..Then I read all the bad things and I cried, got a huge stomach ache..Had night mares, But I thought I had attended a wedding there before and had a great time..The people there were very nice to me, and It was something that I could afford since no one is helping us pay for our wedding...So it is true some comments are very hurtful!
