Looking for a reception hall

We are looking to get married in the fall of 2000. We don't want to have the reception in a typical catering hall. If anyone knows of a place that is unique, please let me know.

I'm sorry to hear that you are blue, honey but I have one thing to add: PRAY, and this too shall pass....

Kristi, you can try the Milleridge Cottage or Eastwind has a cottage as well. You may want to check out the MARTHA Jefferson Paddle Boat out of Port Jefferson. Awesome. I had an office party of 140 people this past fall - October. Absolutely beautiful sunset and the service, food and set-up were great. They set the bottom enclosed room up as a reception.

When meeting with couples who give me their DO NOT PLAY LIST, I remind them that while the day is for them, their guests are entitled to a good time as well. So, if there is one song that the majority would like to hear, but the bride and groom don't, perhaps reconsider. A 4 minute song that you don't like is not going to kill a 4 hour reception. Unless the song affects you emotionally, which some songs can do!

I don't think many people have a problem with one or two songs being played that they don't particularly care for. What people are afraid of is when DJ's go off the program of what the bride and groom have requested and start following the requests of the guests.

WE didn't want the "typical" hall either-- and have decided on the Milleridge Cottage-- it is absolutely beautiful-- you can check out pictures www.lifleamart.com/milleridge/index.html Laura

Looking for dresses can drive you insane! I also had to decide between a traditional wedding dress with lace, and a modern, summery and elegant dress. I kept wishing I could buy all 5 dresses I fell in love with, and change every hour. But at some point you just decide, and then go with that look. Good luck!

Laura--Bless you honey!! I've been looking for a Milleridge site since I was married and couldn't find anything. I wanted to include the link on my slow-growing webpage :)Thanks-a-million...Gina

I went to two weddings there in the past few months. To me it seemed like a factory with no personal attention. At the end of my best friends wedding they rushed her out because there was another wedding after hers that they had to get ready for. The DJ (house DJ) stopped playing ten minutes before the end to aid in the get'm outta here for the next wedding turn around.
