Re: Migraine Sufferers
I suffer from them too especially when I get my period. My doctor also told me certain foods trigger them also, hard cheeses, MSG, spicy foods, and believe it or not... onions!I take furenol and after 2 hours if that does not work I boost it with 1 Excedrin, and then if that does not work I also have something to drink with caffeine in it and put ice on my forhead and that does the trick.

Re: Migraine Sufferers
Starhead, some migraines aren't related to anything. I kept a headache journal for a YEAR and the only common factor was extreme heat, and that only held true for the headaches I got from June-Sept. The ones I got the rest of the year had no rhyme or reason what-so-ever. What helps me is becomming familiar with your first sympton (mine is the my neck 'crackles' when I turn my head, after that, I know a headache is right around the corner) and treating yourself immediately with whatever meds work best for you.Lots of luck at the doctor!

Re: Migraine Sufferers
Maxalt is a good medication, I was getting period assoicated migraines for a while and this worked like a charm within about 15 minutes - and if you have regular excedrin at home, it is the same exact thing as excedrin migraine, no need to buy another bottle!

Re: Migraine Sufferers
Oh, I definitely know when one is coming. I have the whole 'aura' thing w/ flashing in my left side of my field of vision. Since I've been getting them again, I have Excedrin Migraine everywhere, in my bag, in my desk at work, in my car, you name it.It does seem to help w/ the throwing up (sorry to be gross) part. I know it's the same as Excedrin, but I think they put extra caffeine in it??
I was in a serious accident when I was 10 w/ head trauma, the neurologist said it could be related to that, but that's 17 years ago? FH has no clue what to do for me when it happens, he so doesn't understand - unless you've been through it you really can't.

Re: Migraine Sufferers
that darn 'aura' is the worst. When I get that I actually panic, b/c I get it b4 the pain actually hits. But I know I have no more than 10 minutes to take cover, quickly get to a dark place and medicated when I get an 'aura' so I get so scared, and rightfully so, in 10 minutes flat I'm in extreme pain

Isn't it horrible??? It's like you know you're going to be in misery for god knows how long. It's amazing how many of us women have this problem. Why don't men get them as much?

Re: Migraine Sufferers
I get that horrible 'aura' too. I get such numbness in my hands and part of my face will actually go numb as well. And then I get all Kaleidescopy in my eyes... that's when I know that I have about 20-30 min. before the wonderful throwing up part begins.
It totally sux. my fi gets so scared because he doesn't know how to help me - I feel so bad. But, he's so wonderful when I get like that.

Re: Migraine Sufferers
lol Wish Candy, the first time I got that numbness during a mirgraine was this year, I had never gotten it b4 and didnt even know that was from my Migraines. I was at work, and panicked, my poor boss had to calm me down, ran me to the sink to drench my hands in water. Later on the doc(i went that same day) told me it was b/c of the migraine I was having. Great, the effect just keep growin and growing
