I was at the SAME wedding as you!! I'm friends with the bride- Denise! This is freaking me out, I went to a wedding last weekend at Woodbury CC and there was an LIW bride there too!!! we're everywhere!! lol
I agree w/ your comments on Starlight Express....as soon as I got there I knew it was them, b/c FH & I met with them 2 weeks ago (which FH really really liked them, but I'm a little concerned after today). Honestly I do think it was the MC who wasn't so great.....he annoyed me so much today!!!
The MC was REALLY loud, and when he did the 10 second kiss thing I wanted to slap him!! I agree he rushed the end of the wedding, I felt like he should've gotten everyone to get around the bride and groom earlier. And why was he constantly talking?? He must really like to hear himself!!! I thought his mike was turned up too high too.
I think Starlight Express is still a contender for us (love those lighting columns!!), BUT I think I'd go with Vinny, since I've read he's more low key. I've also read really great things about Paul. The MC today.....I don't remember his name but he's of a mid eastern background (not that he has an accent though). The only funny thing he said today was 'don't worry I don't smell like curry'.....but that could be really offensive to any guests with a mid eastern background.
I agree that the Floral Terrace was great.....the servers were slightly clumsy at times.....spilling water on the table etc. But they were very courteous. I had the shell steak- it was delicious!
how was the weddng at wedding at woodbury the weekend before?

Hello!!!! Here's a link to some info I posted after the wedding last week:
Woodbury CC
I also posted some info above....here it is:

I just realized your getting married at Woodbury CC- I went to a wedding there last weekend- it was one of the best weddings I've been to in a long time!!! their dj was Satisfaction Guaranteed- they were amazing!
One thing I have to say about how they served the pasta at Woodbury- they came out w/ pots and plopped the pasta down in the bowls on the table (instead of bringing out the bowls with the pasta already served in it).....I didn't really care for this b/c a tiny bit of sauce splashed on my arm....not a big deal, but I just thought it was something I'd point out in case you didn't know how they serve the pasta. But, I have to say all the food was EXCELLENT!! I had a chicken dish (forgot the name, it had tomatoes and mozzarella on top w/ a mushroom sauce....soooooooo good!!!!), FH had steak and thought it was great too. If you have any questions about Woodbury...just let me know!!![]()

I wanted to ask the Starlight brides- did you get the lighting columns? And did you get the screens with zap shots, or just a photo montage?
I loved the lighting columns yesterday....they looked so elegant! They didn't have any screens, but that's something we definitely want (we just have to decide if we want zap shots, or if we just want to do a montage during dinner).
This is what my package consists of:
1 DJ
1 MC
2 50' plasma screen tv's w/concert lights (I believe that they come with the column?)
3 montages
photographer for church - reception
I believe we will have either candid shots or zap shots during the entire night from the church to reception put on the screens. They did not state if they would be candid shots or zap shots.
Can you tell me what the difference is?
Thanks.
I don't really know if there's a difference in what style of zap shots you can get- I think they just shoot pictures- w/o really posing anyone. I went to a wedding last weekend at Woodbury CC, where they gave a mini recap of the wedding ceremony while we were having dinner- it was so cool!! I thought that was a nice touch for guests who didn't make it to the ceremony- that's something I might ask to have done.
Yes, Vinny told me that they will take pics at the church and then display them on the plasma screens for people who could not be there. I thought that was really nice.

BTW- I was at table 11- where were you?
Thanks for the mini review on woodbury CC...wow I didn't realize that they serve the pasta that way...I will make sure that this does not happen...I was at table 9...It is funny how there are so many LIW brides all over..I had a great time at the wedding and thought it would be helpful to post a review for people.I see that you are getting married at douglaston manor...I actually looked at the place as well...but had to chose something further out in LI to accomodate family...How do you know denise and Ronnie? I've been a freind of Ronnies family for many years I teach at his mothers dance studio....
I've known Denise since 1997.....I met her when she dated a guy in my ex's band......she's the sweetest girl ever!!!!! I'm so happy for her & Ron!!! They are so meant for each other!!
Your welcome for the review on Woodbury.....the pasta thing isn't such a huge deal, but me being a bride to be....it's something I noticed!
Did you see Douglaston Manor after the renovations? Just curious. The location was perfect for us b/c I have family upstate and in LI, so it's a good halfway point being in Queens.
It's amazing where you can bump into an LIW bride......it's definitely a good thing that we report back, since a lot of people who book their halls have never actually been there for a party (like me!!).![]()
I agree-Denise is the sweetest and her and Ronnie are great togethedr...they are sooo cute!!!! I actually had been to tons of weddings at douglaston manor....so I was familiar with the place and actiually it was before the renovations...I was always impressed with their service and food....so it made it much more appealing after the renovations....good luck and happy planning!!!
