Re: My dress alterations cost $500!!! VENT!
I would be pissed......I would try to talk to them regarding the price and just see if there is anything they can do to work with you.....My parents always said it doesnt hurt to ask.......worst that can happen...they say no but then again they might actually work with you.I paid say roughly 600 for my dress and if my alterations came out to be almost the same amount I paid for my dress I would

Re: My dress alterations cost $500!!! VENT!
Most places will tell you the capped price for alts...mine has it written on my contract $200...and the bustle is $10 a point for regular $15 for French..again all written on the contract..sounds like they tried to get more $$ than they should've! Maybe talk to the manager??

Re: My dress alterations cost $500!!! VENT!
my alterations are capped at 100, but i think they did that b/c my dress is a hollow to hem and they said i wouldn't need any alterations b/c i fit the sample size very well. they said they normally cap at 200. but my alteration cap is written into my contract so they can't argue with it if it turns out i need a lot of work done.is there a way to go somewhere else for alterations? or are you already committed to it there? if not, i'd shop around. i'm sure you can find a good seamstress or another bridal salon that'll do it. also, maybe you could buy your slip somewhere else. mine was only 75 (but it was also an a-line if that makes a difference) from my salon, but i've seen them a LOT cheaper on ebay, though i don't know if you have time for that... it can't hurt to make some calls though. you may not have it in in time for your fittings, but maybe you can just borrow one from the salon for the fittings and wear the one you bought the day of. i dunno, i'm just making suggestions, over 600 is a LOT of money for me. seems a bit crazy, but then again so is everything else wedding related.

OK I would just like to say that I LOVE all of you girls SO much! After reading everyone's responses, I called my mom, and we are calling Moonlight Couture tomorrow and canceling the alterations. I am going to call up Phyllis from Bridal Elegance and see if she could help me! The thing is, they already charged the credit card the $650, do you think they are going to give me a hard time? I didn't sign anything as far a contract for alterations. I'm just getting nervous now because its only 33 days til my wedding!! Thank you all so much, I will keep you updated on what happens!

I didn't get any dresses there but I did go there wtih my Mom to see if they had an MOB dresses and when she told them what she wanted to spend, they rolled their eyes at us and said well, I guess we'll have to look in the sale rack but I don't know what we haveGranted, my mom was not looking to spend MILLIONS but even if it was less money then they were used to dealing with, it was SOOOOO RUDE the way they reacted!!!!!!!
My mom said no thank you and we walked right out!!!!!
Then she went a dropped so much more than she expected at Sugarplum!! HA HA
I feel like going back there and telling them!!
The saleswomen in there are totally rude
Sorry you got what you DIDN'T expect!

if they give you any grief call your credit card company & have them do a chargeback...and take the dress anyway!!! and be sure to get everything in writing and write down the names of the people you deal with incase you need it down the line..good luck!!!

Re: My dress alterations cost $500!!! VENT!
I bought mine at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue and they cap it off at $250. I think other things might be extra, but for basic, taking in, shortening, they cap off. That sounds like a lot!! Hope you can work things out and they don't give you a hard time. I have a feeling they will, as most places are a pain in the you know what!!! Keep us posted!!!Welcome New Vendors
