Ok, my good friend who is in the bridal party asked me over email if she could invite a girlfriend for her guest to my wedding.

She just broke up with her boyfriend, and she is really depressed about it. She just wants to know if she can invite a friend of hers (who I know and like) instead of a date.

Honestly, we have received a bunch of no's lately, and I'm a little worried about meeting our minimum.....so, I don't know what to tell her.

What would you do? Would you allow her to bring a friend as a guest?

in your situation i would definelty say yes, on the other hand my bm said it to me a long while ago, and i do not like the girl she wants tobring. anyway, i did not bring it up. fh does not want that other girl there either as we are not freinds with her and do not even speak to her. in my case, is a HUGE difference. Your bm needs a freind she may get emotional that day . is that being mean of me?? perhaps, but i would rather invite a mutaul freind instead.

I think it would be nice if you let her bring her friend. If she just broke up with her BF recently, a wedding always makes things harder, and since you like her friend, why not? The more the merrier

Yeah why not? As long as you have met the girl and like her! Plus you wouldn't want her to feel out of place with nobody

I would say yes b/c you want her to be as comfortable as possible at your wedding - and being around all lovey and dovey people all night may get to her and this friend can help support her while you are busy with your friends & family.

I agree. According to some ettiquette articles I have read if you give someone the '& Guest' option you are supposed to suck it up and let them bring anyone they want to. Which is exactly why at least one of FH's friends will NOT get the & Guest on his invite! I am worried he will think it is super funny to bring FH's ex that he is friends with. Blech.

Of course, she can bring whoever she wants. I do not think you can dictate who your guests bring JMO

IMO I would rather have my friends bring a friend of the same or opposite sex. We actually asked that of them.

I hate it when last minute the invitee asks an almost stranger come with me cause I have an & guest on my invite! I'm like dude don't waste my money and bring some loser!!!! So most of our friends that are recently becoming single (it's a spurt out of no where!) are trying to bring mutal friends that just didn't make the invite list. So then everyone knows each other and we can all have a great great great time!!!!

I think you should let her bring a friend, especially if she is in the wedding party, she is close to you. That was very nice of her to ask ahead of time, instead of just showing up. Plus you want her to be happy at your wedding, not bringing anyone down (due to her recent breakup).

I would say yes. She was thoughful to ask you and at least you know this friend. Plus, it may help if she is down right now over her break up.

Absolutely, positively yes. I would rather have my friend be comfortable and have a buddy to hang out with the whole night than not bring a date at all.

if you put her name with 'guest', then a guest is a guest, you don't specify male or female, even though it's implied, but you can't tell someone what sex guest to bring, unless you really don't want that person there on your day..i invited a friend of my mom with guest, but she said she's not bringing her boyfriend cause she won't have fun with him, so she's bringing her best friend, so i said sure, as long as they are having fun

Definitly, she was nice to ask, and if you're getting a lot of nos, then why not!
