unfortunately that's a lost cause. my father's had prostate cancer before and still smokes. plus i don't speak to him.

my sister had a long talk with my grandpa about smoking and she swore she would quit and she did for a few months. but she's back to it.


it's absolute stupidity. i don't care how cool you think it is or how addicted you are, quitting is a necessity. for the sake of your family it is a necessity. it's disgusting, it smells, it makes your teeth yellow and it KILLS. i am so angry more than anything right now because the fact of the matter is---if he didn't smoke he'd be here right now. plain and simple.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandfather died of lung cancer before I was born and it always hurt so bad because I never got to meet him, and I would have if it wasn't for the cigarettes. My FH's mother smokes, and I pray that she quits so that she can see her grandchildren grow up!!

If I could send 10,000 hugs over the internet, I would. We are also having extreme family medical issues right now so I know how difficult it can be, but it's good to have support from others. I will keep your family in my thoughts during this tough time.

Carol, i am reading this and crying :( I loved your grandpa..he was the kindest man and was lucky to have such a wonderful granddaughter. Cherish the memories you had with him, and know how much he loved you. Cheer up if and when you can. I will talk to you again soon.

My mother is a heavy smoker and I have tried so many times to get her to quit...but she won't
