I understand your feeling about not wanting the two memories tied so closely together - but, sometimes happy events (like a baby's birth or a wedding) can help people look toward the future and move through their grief over an illness or loss of a loved one.

Moms have a boundless inner strength when it comes to their children, and I'm sure that despite your Mom's pain, she wants you to have your beautiful day too. My prayers are with your family

I second what Claud said. I hope the happiness that your wedding will bring her helps to dull the pain, even just a little. I'm so sorry you're going through this now.

I am so sorry that you are going thru this, I too am going thru the same thing, my grandfather is in teh hospital with brain and lung cancer, and was supposed to come up form FLorida for my wedding. My father and aunt are with him in Fl and I feel bad that I am still going on with my wedding plans for Oct. My friends have given me good advice, my grandfather would not want me to stop my wedding because of this, he wants me to be happy and have a great day. Adn I too was concerned about my father being sad, but he has been waiting for this for along time, and will be overjoyed that his baby girl is getting married.
