Re: My VENDOR REVIEW AND SOME AMATEUR PICS FROM MY 1/25 WEDDING!
I'm back.What am I forgetting?
Morning Suits A++++
Hugh Harris UK
I don't think that anyone will go to the lengths that I did, but if anyone wants top quality, british morning suits, PM me and I'll send you the contact.
My husband is British and refused to wear a tux in the afternoon. I hated the chalk striped pants that came with the Ralph Lauren morning suit. Since a selection of morning suits and 'proper' hats aren't easy to come by in the tri-state area, we had them shipped in. They were sent a week before the wedding and the guy I worked with (AWESOME) sent his couriers over to pick them up last night. Luckily we have groomsmen who didn't think anything about the added expense, because I think it really pulled together the whole 'look' of our wedding and was a nice touch, considering where DH comes from. It was about 2 1/2 times the price of a standard tux rental. (I already admitted to being BRIDEZILLA)
Reception - Harrison House A++
The food was fabulous: Chilean Sea Bass, Beef Tournadoes, Chicken Stuffed w/Pistachio (a bit dry, from what I hear, but I had the fish and it was the best fish I ever had. NOTE: I AM A FOOD SNOB!)
Crabcakes at Cocktail hour were also yummy.
The Brits were complaining that there wine glasses weren't being filled fast enough, I mentioned this to my maitre d' and you didn't see an empty glass for the rest of the night. We really had them working.
My event manager, Carmela, was also great to work with, she was a bit scared of me I think LOL. She said I had a very big file from all my detailed notes and instructions. Oh Well! The Reception went EXACTLY according to plan. It's a bit pricey, but we were sold on the upstairs bar. Everyone went up there after the reception to play pool, shuffleboard, fooz ball, drink and just chill out. After the bar closed, someone managed to get a bottle of rum and everyone hung out by the indoor pool drinking until 5AM Talk about a bunch of party animals.
The next day, the top tier of my cake was given to me, all wrapped and ready to save for a year (yeah, right. It's almost gone because we've been eating it all week
)All in all, I have to say it was all PERFECT. I couldn't have dreamt a more perfect affair. The mreging of two cultures (I'm Filipina he's British) went off without a hitch and it was amazing to look around and see 200 people that all came (some from very far away) to celebrate our union. I don't think I'll ever feel that blessed again for a long, long time.
In terms of what I think MAKES the reception:
1. DETAILS!!
All the little details that I spent so many hours again, really added the personal touches that I wanted. Granted they'd all been done, but not too many in my crowd have ever seen a votive place card
2. GOOD MUSIC
The music sets the tone for the evening and if people are up and dancing because they love the band (or the dj) it adds that much more energy to the entire event, as opposed to people sitting all night
3. YOUR GUESTS
Invite people that you love. And if you can afford it, let them bring whoever it is that they'll have the most fun with. Happy people are fun people. And fun people= one hell of a reception. I invited everyone 'w/guest' which was a bit of a headache at times, but it was great to see so many people there enjoying the party, enjoying the comapny they came with and just enjoying everyone else there.
4. THE KNOWLEDGE THAT IT'S ALL WORTH IT
Sitting Back at various times in the evening and taking notice of how all your hard work paid off. Me and DH were periodically looking at each other and asking 'So, what do you think of your wedding?' LOL
It's an awesome feeling when you can say 'WITHOUT A DOUBT, the best I've ever been too, even if IT IS my own!!'
Off to fetch more pics for you all...

The Cake was from Baked to PerfectionIt's Harrison House's house vendor. We did vanilla and lemon cream and chocolate/hazlenut cream.
YUMMY!
I sent pics of what I wanted to the baker and he did it perfectly, with no upcharge.
Tastes just as good 5 days later too!

Re: My VENDOR REVIEW AND SOME AMATEUR PICS FROM MY 1/25 WEDDING!
My parents want copies of all of these.You can do a lot of cool effects on shutterfly (like the borders and blurred edges)
They're getting a pro album too, but I figure these will tide them over for a month or three.
Thanks for all the compliments everyone.
Good friends with good cameras.
Invite them to the wedding too!!
