My great grandparents met there - she was a nurse, he used the grounds to smuggle alcohol.

I had a great uncle go there as a patient in his early 20's. He died there.

You never told me that!!!
I am completely fascinated with old buildings - I wish I was brave enough to break in and get my photography groove on!

Dude, I say a roadtrip is in the works!! Old buildings are spooky to me and give me a charge. I would never have the nerve to go exploring by myself!! Same with Pilgrim State.

Then maybe we can have a lovely brunch back at my house after scoping out the creepy buildings!!!!

I think if you are brave enough you can go through the tunnels and INTO the buildings.

Oy! The reason you got lost is b/c when you were on Pulaski Road you were in Kings Park, and Fort Salonga Road is 25A...it's not called Fort Salonga road for a few miles up when you reach Fort Salonga.

I can't believe you went in KPCC---it's soooo creepy in there!

ah... see I was trying to use reverse mapquest printed directions, just using my directions going backward. heh

I like to get lost, (haha yes, pun seen and acknowledged) as long as I have a full tank of gas. I like to see the 'off road'.

As a non-islander, I think you guys have lots of history and pretty areas that go mostly unvisited because it's not the 'fastest' way to something.

Jim is one of those 'know only his area' types. Im one of those, 'see it all in the area' types. Just no time lately to go out on a Sunday Drive. And it's cold.

Come on spring! I want to go exploring!

Well you should have stopped by, b/c judging from where you were lost you probably drove past my apt. about 15 times...and I just went to Stew Leonards and I'm dying to open some of the wines....see what you missed!

Im always up for wine!

hehe next time I'm lost I'll pull out the phone and instead of asking Jim for directions I'll have him post to LIW

'Ronie's lost at X and X streets..anyone near?'

hey you passed my house too

Nissequoge state park is EMPTY. Not much of a park.

I love the psych center grounds - at one point, there were talks of creating a college campus on them, but the buildings are unsafe and loaded with asbestos. I wish they would DO something with that land already - it's so beautiful (waterfront!) and such a waste right now....
