Congrats - Philly is a great city!

we are heading for North Carolina after the wedding - Fh and I are going to give this city the big fat finger on our way out. I hate it here.

I have days where I completely feel this way. I lived in Virginia for almost 9 years. I love being near my mom, that's a nice change, but I would be THRILLED THRILLED THRILLED to move back down to VA or NC. Ugh. Fh won't move b/c of his job. As I said in another thread, great place to visit. Hate living here. Hate it. Did I mention I hate it. I feel poor and I miss open space and grass.

I hear you sister! This is home, my family is here, and there are certain things I really like about it - but at the end of the day I don't want a dirty subway, crowds, traffic, angry people, and then coming home to my overpriced shoebox in a building that doesn't give me heat with no backyard. I want something better for my kids...

If I was making 6 figures...I would love New York. I just can't be here and be poor.

Grass is essential!!! Try to move near a park...it helped us for awhile.

Good Luck!

Congratualations! Best of luck in your new city. I hear you about NY. I'm not originally from here and don't know how much longer I'll be staying. It is too expensive.

From the outside looking in, I live in MA now and I really miss NY....I want to move back eventually.

MA is nice, but I will always be a NYer!

I agree with you. We moved to Michigan a year and a half ago, and we HATE it. I can't wait to move back east. I really don't even care where though, as long as it's between DC and Boston. At least then we'll be around culture again.

Funny thing, I was reading something about Philly in last Sunday's paper, and said to FI, I could totally live there! Best of luck!

Re: NWR: GOOD-BYE NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!!

congratulations - Philly is a fantastic town!

Um, I know that people have different opinions of New York - but can we not bash the place so much on a congratulatory thread? It's my home you're talking about. I love it here.

I agree...especially since we are all getting married here! (Can't hate it that much if you want to celebrate something so important here!)
