I take the train from Huntington Station. I am lucky because my office is right above Penn Station, so I just get off the train and go up to my office, I don't even have to go outside.

Astoria is only one stop from Manhattan, so that willl really cut down on your commuting time when you move!!
We are looking at Astoria also, and Forest Hills as well. FH already lives in Queens.

Congratulations!

You get used to the commute - the train becomes the place to catch up on sleep or make to do lists. I have gotten into the habit of packing lunches and stockpiling healthy snacks and tea at my desk. I never workout in the morning - mostly at night and on the weekends.

Congratulations!! I also just got a new job in NYC! I have been working in LI all this time and don't know what to expect. I have 9 more months before I get married and I'm really worried that I won't have enough time to hit the gym or do all the wedding planning I do after work.

Keep the tips coming!! I could use all the ideas. Thanks for this post! Its genius!

I am the same weekend as you Sunshine. We are in the same boat. Where is your job going to be? I feel like working out on some mornings would be better for me. If i can get my *** up at 5:30 to do it! I cant see myself working out at 7:30, then not eating dinner til like 9, then get ready for bed pretty much!

So you feel my anxiety then. Being we're getting married the same weekend. I worked my butt off and didn't go to the gym for a couple weeks so I could prepare for this interview. Just like you, I met with 5 people and the job was mine. I can't get up for the life of me. I am looking forward to some serious zzzzzz's on the train. My job is in Midtown...across from Penn Station. Where;s yours?

I used to commute from Long Island (Merrick and the 5 towns) to NYC and it was tough but you do get used to it. Once you get into a pattern it becomes easier. Try to get the gym/workout done in the morning before work because when you get home at night I find that you don't want to leave the house.

I now live in Forest Hills and love my 30 minute subway commute! If you get to Astoria you will have no regrets.

By the way, having worked in Long Island before and now being in the city for over 6 years, you will LOVE working in Manhattan! I know I do.

Congrats!! I would love to work in Manhattan! I reverse commute from Queens to Mineola! Fh works in Islip so for now we are LI folk. It isn't too bad- great excuse to get that Pontiac Solstice convertable I want!! WHOO!
