Re: NWR: I got my hair Japanese Straigtened yesterday!!!
If you straighten your hair, can you curl it if you're going out?? Or will it just not hold the curl....

Re: NWR: I got my hair Japanese Straigtened yesterday!!!
i would rather get the maxi glide then get this done, i had the matrix straightener done (the one with less chemicals) and it was pretty straight i still had to blow it out, but it totally fried my hair afterwards, i could never do the japanese i give u girls a lot of credit though!!

It will not hold a curl at all.

It's a great 'temporary' solution...but honestly, JS has CHANGED my life...No kidding!
I know many ladies that get it done, and we all say the same...Changed my life!
I don't use any gel products, any oil products, mousse, nothing...just wash my hair, and walk out the door...if i'm going out at night, I do blow dry it, but with a flat brush, to get it dry, not to actually sit there and use a round brush to get it straight.
Before JS, I used to get my hair blown out straight every single Friday Night and Saturday Night....but my hair would still get frizzy in the club from dancing and hte heat
I should be a spokesperson!

i knew a girl that had it done and it looked awesome on her but she said it totally dried out her hair, and when her roots started growing it it was curly on top and straight on the bottom.

that happend to a friend of mine too..and after some time her hair started breaking up top at the point where the curl and straight part met. She was so upset about it, she had to wear her hair up in ponytail for over 2 years till it grew out to her shoulders for a regular cut. Her hair was REALLY damaged afterward.
When she went to the salon they said some people have bad reactions and some dont. She knows a ton of girls who went to the same salon as she did and they had no problems.

Re: NWR: I got my hair Japanese Straigtened yesterday!!!
are the chemicals similiar to perm type chemicals?the reason I ask is because I'm afraid of the reaction it would have on my hair, but want so much to get it done....just the time it would save me in the morning is so worth the $$....but the point is; if the chemicals are similiar then I would have an idea on how my hair will react....and that would actually calm my fears.

Do a google search on it, or visit the website I posted above...it will go over the entire process for you.
Better yet, here's some information from a previous post:

I think that's perfect timing b4 ur wedding!
it'll still be straight and you'll have more volume by then, and your hair will hold a curl if you want.

I got mine done at Hayato in Manhattan. they charged me 260, but i have the thickest hair and it took me 5 1/2 hours including a hair cut. I just love it. I have so much confidence now. Its also great to finally be able to wear my hair down. Oh and I have to thank this website for all their salon suggestions. hayato is awesome, plus they give you the best back massage too.
Do you have their contact info?
TIA!
Their phone number is 212-673-7373. The only problem with them is that it takes about month or more to get an appointment. But it was so worth it.

I want to do this so badly but I have so many questions.
I am worried about my 'roots' too. How does that work? Do you have to get touch-ups?
Also, what about color? Can you dye it afterwards?
From what the salon said i have to wait two weeks before dyeing. The only thing that they say is that you really shouldnt bleach or highlight it. I dont even think that they will do it if you have bleach or highlighted your hair. The roots do grow in curly. You just have to get touch ups every 6 months or so. its basically the same price because it takes about hte same time to do it.
My friend at work had it done once and her hair stayed straight forever. Its just that if you want to go curly again you will have half curly and half straight hair. I guess thats a down fall. But I love it right now. I just plan on working some overtime to pay for touchups and since i never really maintain my hair (i.e. dyeing, etc) i figure why not. I have always wanted straight hair all my life. So its the best thing I have did. Its so worth the money if you always wanted straight hair.
