Oh, that is a horrible way to work with someone. I don't know about you but I literally melt into sobs when someone screams at me. I am so sorry

I think you definitely did the right thing and if he gets pissed that you went to your boss, you can just tell him that you tried to talk to him but when he attacked you again, you felt it important enough to go to someone who would actually listen to you. I hate conflict so much and am wondering (from a purely HR point of view) whether you'd be willing to sit down with him and your boss all in the same room so its not completely uncomfortable every time you go to work?

Well, I decided to give him a chance and I spoke with him privately. He blew up at me again so I went straight to the boss and she said she would handle the matter. I just hope I don't have to deal with retaliation now. At this point I don't think I have to uninvite him I think it is understood ( I hope!)
Why are people such pains in the butt!
