Hello!! I am a native Floridian!! I am an October bride as well. I do not think that this years hurricane season is going to be all that bad since it is the end of July and we are only on the letter D or E. Plus the meteorologist say that this season is not supposed to be too horrible. I also wanted to give you a few things to consider about hurricane season in you HM decision making that may open up a few more possible places
- Although hurricane season does not end until Nov. 1st I cannot remember having a hurrincane hit in October.
- The bulk of hurricanes that hit are from June to Sept and they are either catagorey one or tropical storms. Neither do too much damage and and any damage that may be caused should be repaired by the time Oct. rolls around.
- No one can completly predict mother nature so on the off chance that there is a major hurricane this season most places in the hurricane belt offer a refund or if they plan to rebuild upgrades once the complete reconstruction. I believe the norm is refunds though. If you decide to go ahead and book your HM in the hurricane belt be sure to ask the hotel and any vendors you use about there hurricane policy. Some places have an Act of God clause, just be sure the hotel or vendor considers hurricanes to be an act of God (I know that sounds silly, but trust me)
We will be having our HM in San Destin FL this Oct. and our wedding night hotel is booked on the beach as well. I hope this helps
