Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Hi fellow JT brides...just wanted to peek in and say hi! This board gets no action...

We had a tasting on 10/31 and were soooo pleased. The food was awesome, the drinks were great (hells yeah we had liquor at 11am ) but best of all, the service was GREAT! We cannot wait. Our only concern is that we are booked for the 'Oak' Room downstairs and we're worried about the space (or lack thereof) but I really hope it works out. We're expecting no more than 120 guests. Anyone been to a wedding in that room? Please share thoughts! The Dome room is taken and the Skylight is too much extra $$. Am I overreacting?

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

I don't think they showed us the Oak Room, since we're off-season and a Sat. morn. They're letting us have the Dome Room for a steal with only 150 people.

What did they say is the max. number of people you can fit? I'm sure it will be fine, or they wouldn't put you there.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Did you make an appointment for the food tasting, or did you just show up one day? Just curious...I've been to a wedding there 2 years ago, but I may want to do a tasting for myself.

I was there, the DJ was Starlight Express. FH and I really liked their performance. Provided the price is right for what we want, we'll book them!!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Hi girls,
So excited that we're actually posting.

That's a great deal you're getting for the Dome Room. Congrats! We're in the Oak Room because we only had to gurantee 100pp and the room holds up to 150. We're only concerned because the room is not very wide and has long oval tables instead of the traditional round ones...so they're aware of the size issue. We're confident that they know what they're doing. I was told that they have a wedding of 136pp there tonight and I could go see it...but I'm tired of making so many trips there. Michael is great at reassuring me though. I'm leaving it in God's hands. If we're meant to be there or in another room, it'll happen. After all, food and service (and liquor) is the most important. And I plan on having lots of flowers and great music to keep everyone busy and make the room look better.

About the tasting, we made an appointment. Mike Closs is our BM and truly answers any question I have. Call him (or your BM) and tell them you want to attend a tasting and they'll set it up for you. It was really worth the trip and getting up so early. We had creme brulee for dessert and it was soooo good...the chef came out to ask how the food was! We were very impressed and stuffed by the time we left.

Let's keep this board alive...thanks for replying to my questions!

HI!! and welcome back from Disney. We did our tasting when we booked. We plan on doing another tasting closer to the date, so we can just make sure the food is still good.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Hello exotica776 and welcome back!

I can't help you with dresses because that's one thing I'm procrastinanting on...
About the tasting, you just call and set it up. I brought my fi, but you can bring anyone you want. If you want to bring fi, Mom and MOH you can. I don't know what the max is. But I was supposed to bring my MOH and BM but they wanted to stay behind and sleep in (suckers!!). A tasting is set up so that you can get an idea of the 'taste' of their food. They give you a little bit of everything...stuff from CH, appetizers, entree, dessert. It is not when you finalize your menu...that you do much closer to the date and I don't think you get to taste the food then.

Best wishes!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

hey all JT brides Im glad to see that this site is up and running again, I was a little worried that I was the only one visiting it. I havent' had a food tasting either, but i can't wait to go and see how good the food is. So I guess I just have to call and talk with my Banquet Manager so i can make an appointment.

By the way I have seen the Oak room and i really is a beautiful room, my concern also was the size of the dance floor, and the long tables, but it really did look amazing. I am booked for the Skylight room but FH really wanted the DOME room but i did not feel like coming up with 170 people, so we decided it would be less stress with the downstairs room. Whatever room you pic at JT though they are all Great!!!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Anyone going to the New Year's Eve party at Jericho Terrace? It's $110 for an open bar and full meal-- cocktail hour, appetizer, salad, dinner, dessert... plus there will be a DJ.
My fiance and I and some friends are going to go-- Jericho Terrace was such a nice place; we would have booked there, but I really wanted a hall with grounds b/c I'm getting married outside.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

OMG, I can't believe I forgot to post on Friday how my tasting went. We called ahead to make an appointment, which was just 3 days later. We did not decide on the menu that night but I'm sure if you wanted to, you could schedule both for the same night. Definitely ask your BM.

Ok, now on to the actually tasting. When we arrived there was a PTA fashion show going on but the staff still went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. They took us to the Garden Room (the really big cocktail hour room) and there were 4 plates set up. We told them we weren't bringing anyone but they set up 2 extra plates just in case, pretty cool. Our BM then told us what we would be tasting and the waitress offered us drinks (I got red wine and FH got a beer). Then the food came out. First we got some of the cold antipasto, which was very good. Then some hot appetizers (baked clams, stuffed mushrooms, mini rice balls, and a couple of other things that I forget) followed. These were yummy too. Then they brought us each a bowl of pasta ...very good. After that, the main course came out. We each got the Chicken Sorrentino, which is chicken with prosciutto, eggplant and fresh mozzarella in gravy, with a little tomato sauce on top. I would have preferred if we both got something different but oh well. It was delicious Then the creme brulet (sp?). OMG was this good. I thought we were going to need a crane to lift us out of there we were so full. I must say, the food and service were excellent, I have no worries...not that I had any to begin with but that night just confirmed it for me.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Thanks for the report! I am really looking forward to setting that up at some point.

Were there other couples there tasting too? I think it would be neat to be able to talk to other people about their planning, etc. Maybe when Will and I decide we're going to go, we'll see if anyone else from LIW is interested in going too.
