see I am on the fence about execution. I think there are excellent reasons for it in certain circumstances - but also some reasons NOT to do it:

Speaking in a VERY general way - NOT in any particular incident-

I think that if I was in the family's place I would probably feel that it was justice BUT having said that in general - there have been innocent people executed - and I think there has to be NO DOUBT that the one executed is the person who committed the murder - BUT at the same time when you execute them you let them out of their misery - (NOW this depends on each individual) but honestly they will be locked up for their whole life in a place where they get beat up, etc - this is more torture for certain individuals than for others.

Sorry I know that was rather rambling - that is why I am on the fence

ABSOLUTELY!! I think all the gangs should be executed. Show me a 'good' gang that does things for the community beside drug dealing, raping, murdering, drive by shootings, etc.?!?

I personally believe in the death penalty and yes people have been accused incorrectly bu t NOT these days, and we definitely have not excuted anyone incorrectly in recent times. Also if you get picked up incorrectly have to of been shady to begin with Police do not generally pick up Law abiding citizens

It will read as follows' If the murderer is found innocent' (then I will stare the judge, the jury and attorney in the face) ' I hope that Mr/Mrs xxxxxx lives next door to you someday soon, so that he/she may brutally ravish, beat, kill, rape, sodomize or whatever the act is, your wife, children, grandmother, aunt or anyone else you care for

I have told my mother this is what I want said, should I be the one killed

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion on the subject, but I really encourage you to do some research on the death penalty because these statements are very out of step with all of the available literature.

While unfortunately I would LOVE to believe that but having friends who work BOTH as attorneys (both defense AND prosecution) AND as police officiers I will say that is NOT always the case. Although I generally believe MOST are legit.

A few years ago I had a friend who was black and a pre law student at columbia - he was stopped by the police while walking to his friends house in garden city and hasseled by police who threatened to pick him up and arrest him since they were certain that he was ONLY up to NO good seeing (told him they thought he was casing the block) as he could NOT possibly be in Garden city for any good reason - THIS friend of mine IS a well spoken highly educated guy who was nicely dressed at the time - he was WALKING because he LIVED on PARK AVE in Manhattan and took the TRAIN to GC to go out to dinner with his friends family - this is NOT the first incident I personally know about (my friends father was a GC police officer and she used to tell me stories)

My Crim law prof had actually worked a case a few years back where she got someone off of death row when someone else CONFESSED to the crime and he was released.

I am not saying that these are COMMON occurances (probably a VERY VERY VERY select number) but I think it is wrong to believe that mistakes can not be made we are after all human and sometimes people get overzealous in their work that causes them to overlook other aspects which might lead to proving someone's innocents. (But that is also not to say that a lot of guilty people DON'T walk on techniqualities too)

Absolutely RARE!! My father works for the Nassau County District attorneys office here in nassau So I do know that is possible but if you are arrested and your are innocent, onc you explain I am sure you are let go ? I am in no way saying it doesn't possibly happen but magority rules in my eyes >

I am not in a debating mood so I will say this and move on - maybe it is niave on my part but most people I know agree with me on this and that is that - I think to say that just because something is NOT a majority does NOT mean that it should be ignored - (these numbers are just examples NOT real numbers) but to me that is saying ok well if 10 out of 100 (or even 3 out of 100) people they execute a year are innocent then it is not important because it is not in the majority of the time. IMPO if there is any margin of error when you are dealing with taking a life it should be 100% certain with no margin of error.
