I have a chocolate lab too... mine's a 10 month old boy now.

I wanted a girl too, but FH wanted a boy, so a bay we got. Girl's names are fun though! I LOVE Stella, or maybe Lola, or Lexi?

She is sooo cute, I think you should keep the name stanley, be different

That is super weird about the breeder screwing up the sex, I definitely think this is something worth being upset about just not for long, let it go and enjoy being with your new puppy

OK so I decided to name her Dakota! It just seemed to fit. And about the breeder I am going to see if they will take off the cost of shipping her back and another one out since they would have had to pay for all that if we decided to send her back. I think it's only fair. Thanks for all your kind words

OH and the best news is that she ate her dinner and is back to playing with her brother

oh i just read through the whole post and was going to suggest Godiva (godiva chocolate=yummy!) but i see that you selected dakota------she is adorable---hope she feels better!

I love the name Sophie for a girl.. she's super sweet.. I am sorry that you already had to go though this much with the puppy.. Make sure to get her some vitamins too.. we give our puppy Ennervite and he loves it.. you can get it at any pet store..

Maybe 'Kahlua' has a chance, now? I LOVE that name. And - boy or girl - that puppy is friggin' adorable! I'm not too much of a dog person, but YOUR puppy stole my heart as soon as I saw the picture! Tell 'The Puppy Formally known as Stanley' to feel better!

Aw, she's so adorable! I'm glad you're keeping her anyway, after all, it's not her fault she's a girl! I'm glad to hear she's feeling better as well.

And Dakota is a great name. One of my dog's sisters was named Dakota (Dakota was the puppy out of the litter that the breeder decided to keep for her kids so she was all named and ready to go.) That was years ago though... my puppy passed away this fall at the ripe old age of 11 (which is old for such a big dog)

Anyway, long story short, it's a beautiful name for a dog! I hope you and Dakota enjoy your life together
